Week 3 Sunday Night Football Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Kansas City Chiefs First TD Scorer: Travis Kelce (+390)

Unfortunately, Kelce's days as an elite tight end are over. However, the future Hall of Famer is still the Chiefs' top weapon in the passing game with Rashee Rice suspended and Xavier Worthy dealing with a shoulder injury. While the former Texas star has practiced after getting hurt in Week 1, Kansas City ruled Worthy out for Sunday night's game. More importantly, Kelce scored the Chiefs' first touchdown in Week 1 after Worthy left the contest.

New York surrendered two passing touchdowns last week. The first touchdown was a 10-yard receiving score by KaVontae Turpin. More importantly, they have had no answers for tight ends this season. The Giants gave up nine receptions on a team-high 12 targets for 78 receiving yards last week. Furthermore, they surrendered a receiving touchdown to Zach Ertz in Week 1, his team's first score of the game. Expect Kelce to have his number called early on Sunday night.

New York Giants First TD Scorer: Malik Nabers (+330)

After the Giants failed to find the end zone in Week 1, they scored four touchdowns last week. Yet, bettors should consider betting New York to not score a touchdown (+900), especially if they believe Kansas City's defense will show up Sunday night. However, Nabers is my pick to score the first Giants' touchdown this week. The superstar wide receiver had the team's first touchdown last week against the Dallas Cowboys, pulling in a 29-yard receiving score.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles barely threw the ball in their victory over the Chiefs. Jalen Hurts had only 22 pass attempts in the game. Meanwhile, the star quarterback and Saquon Barkley both had a rushing touchdown. However, Kansas City had no answers for Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers’ pass defense in Week 1. The Chiefs surrendered three receiving touchdowns, with two going to Quentin Johnston, including their first score of the game.

Anytime TD Scorer: Patrick Mahomes (+300)

The Chiefs have had arguably the worst rushing attack in the NFL over the first two weeks. Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and Brashard Smith have combined for 29 rushing attempts, 85 yards, and zero touchdowns, averaging 3.3 yards per attempt. However, Mahomes has become one of the better rushing quarterbacks in the league. The superstar quarterback has 13 rushing attempts for 123 yards over the first two weeks, averaging 9.5 yards per attempt.

More importantly, Mahomes has found the end zone in both games this season, scoring the first Kansas City touchdown in both outings. Meanwhile, the Giants haven't given up a rushing touchdown to a quarterback over the first two weeks. However, they struggled to slow down Jayden Daniels in Week 1, surrendering 11 rushing attempts for 68 yards, giving up 6.2 yards per attempt to the superstar quarterback. Mahomes should have no trouble running all over New York's struggling run defense.

Anytime TD Scorer: Tyquan Thornton (+310)

While Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are the Chiefs’ top two wide receivers, the team found a diamond in the rough this offseason in Thornton. The former Baylor star has been a bust after the New England Patriots used a second-round NFL Draft pick on him. However, Thornton has quietly been a reliable deep threat for Patrick Mahomes, especially with Worthy out of the lineup. The veteran has averaged 25 receiving yards per reception this season.

Furthermore, Thornton saw an uptick in snaps last week. After ranking third in snaps behind Marquise Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster in Week 1, the veteran tied Brown for the team high in snaps (45) in Week 2. More importantly, the former Baylor star had Kansas City's only receiving touchdown against the Eagles, catching a 49-yard bomb in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, the Giants gave up three receiving touchdowns last week, including a 48-yard deep shot to Malik Nabers.
