NFL Thursday Night Football Anytime TD & Win Parlay (Vikings vs. Chargers)

Thursday Night Football brings us a fascinating clash between two teams trending in opposite directions. The Minnesota Vikings, quietly one of the most efficient defenses in the league, travel west to take on a Chargers team that lives and dies by its passing game, led by Justin Herbert. With JJ McCarthy sidelined and Carson Wentz stepping in again, the Vikings' offense will look to stay balanced while their defense tries to slow down one of the NFL's top aerial attacks. Both teams have been vulnerable in the red zone, setting the stage for a few intriguing anytime touchdown opportunities.

Minnesota Vikings vs Los Angeles Chargers

This battle in Los Angeles currently has a spread of only three points. JJ McCarthy has been ruled out, and Carson Wentz will once again take the reins. The Vikings are scoring about three more points per game than the Chargers so far. However, the Chargers have the third-best passing offense, rank ninth in first downs, and fourth in third-down conversions. Defensively, the Vikings match up extremely well, being the seventh-best passing defense, fourth in first downs allowed, and second in third down conversions. The Vikings opened the 21-day practice window for Aaron Jones, giving the potential that he will play. Both teams rank in the bottom third of the league in touchdowns allowed, making this one of the most difficult touchdown matchups on Thursday night this season.

The Chargers have allowed most of their touchdowns to running backs, and Jordan Mason just so happens to be finding the endzone lately. Mason has scored in three of the last four games, including the last two. He is the only true redzone running threat as he leads the team in redzone carries at 13. Carson Wentz is behind him at two carries. Mason to score is easily my favorite touchdown pick this week.

The Vikings have only allowed 10 touchdowns this season. They have allowed three each to tight ends and running backs. Given the state of the Chargers’ backfield, I’m leaning towards rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden II as my longshot pick to score this week. The rookie scored for the first time last week. He has been a redzone threat and is tied for third in redzone targets at seven.

Favorite Bet: Jordan Mason/Vikings (+311)

Longshot Bet: Oronde Gadsden II/Vikings (+707)
