NFL Thursday Night Football Player Props: Steelers vs. Browns

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Deshaun Watson 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+270)

We kick things off with an ambitious player prop for Deshaun Watson. While we will admit the name does carry a certain unpleasantness regarding production, we must look at the facts. Watson is playing solid football. Whether it’s past transgressions or a lack of availability over the last two seasons, you can’t say Watson is a hindrance to the team right now.

Watson has thrown four touchdowns over the last two games, resulting in two consecutive wins. Pittsburgh is coming off allowing three touchdowns to Joe Burrow and the Bengals. The Steelers allowed one passing touchdown to Cooper Rush in Week 1. It's not out of the realm of possibility for Watson to finish with two or more scores via the passing game.

Aaron Rodgers 35+ Pass Attempts (-112)

We dropped Aaron Rodgers’ total passing attempts to 30 earlier in the week for one of our favorite pieces to add to a parlay. Rodgers has been throwing the ball constantly, and this game is starting to feel more and more like a shootout as kickoff approaches. The lowest total of passing attempts that Rodgers has finished with through three games is 34. That's way too close to not take a shot on in a divisional matchup.

Rodgers is averaging 37.6 passing attempts over the first three contests for the Steelers. The veteran quarterback has reached 40 attempts once in a game this season. There's a very good chance Rodgers finishes with 40 attempts again. The Panthers threw the ball on 48 plays when facing Cleveland on Sunday. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging 35 attempts against the Browns this season.

Denzel Boston 4+ Receptions (+162)

Taking Harold Fannin Jr. (-122) or Denzel Boston for 40+ yards (-102) are the much more sensible receiving props for the night. Having said that, we don't mind starting off the week taking a chance on a receptions total that could be leveraged into a positive return. Boston has hauled in seven passes in the last two games on seven targets - including five receptions against Tampa Bay.

Boston has at least four targets in every game this season. The Browns receiver has converted seven first downs through three games. He is averaging 21.7 yards per reception. If the rookie receiver continues to show reliability downfield while producing such large gains, he's certainly going to keep getting looks from Deshaun Watson.

Jaylen Warren Under 25 First-Quarter Rushing + Receiving Yards (-112)

We close out our selections with a rushing+receiving combo prop for the first quarter that seems entirely too ambitious. Jaylen Warren finished with 43 combined rushing + receiving yards in the previous contest against the Bengals, which appears to be the major catalyst for the high total.

Warren is averaging 11 rushing yards and 14 receiving yards per game through the first quarter. His receiving average is heavily inflated by one 30-yard reception last week. That means Warren's only other first-quarter reception went for -2 yards. That's a high number to put on one reception. Because of that, we are going to take the under on Warren to record at least 25 combined rushing + receiving yards in the first quarter of this contest.
