NFL Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Bills vs. Lions

While we had a Thursday night game in Week 1, that wasn’t technically the start of Thursday Night Football. Instead, it’s the Week 2 game between the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. Both teams are 1-0, and this will be the opening night of the Bills’ brand-new Highmark Stadium.

The Bills topped the Texans in Week 1, beating them 36-31. Quarterback Josh Allen had four total touchdowns. As for the Lions, it took overtime, but they beat the New Orleans Saints 31-30, and Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 156 yards and caught five passes.

    Leg 1: Buffalo Bills Moneyline (-118)

    In Week 1, the Lions played Cover-3 more than any other coverage. Saints quarterback Tyler Shough faced it on 26 dropbacks. The next closest was Cover-4 (Shough faced it on 12 dropbacks).

    Now, dating back to last season, Allen has clobbered Cover-3. Since Week 1 of the 2025-26 season, Allen has completed 125-of-173 passes (72.3%) for 1,531 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions.

    So, not only has he beaten up on the coverage the Lions primarily run, but he also has his rushing ability, which will cause additional problems.

    As for the Lions’ run defense against running backs, they rank 10th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed with 1,595 yards. They’ve also allowed 13 rushing touchdowns to the position since Week 1 of last season, and now they have to deal with James Cook. The Lions have an incredible offense, too, but their defense concerns me.

    Give me the Bills moneyline.

    Leg 2: Jahmyr Gibbs Over 19.5 Rush Attempts (-113)

    With Isiah Pacheco on the shelf for the foreseeable future, Gibbs has even fewer players to compete with for carries. In Week 1, he had 29 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He handled 93.5% of the running back carries. Only Sione Vaki saw some touches besides Gibbs and he had just two carries.

    Now, Gibbs’ rushing attempts line is 19.5. Yes, the Lions went into overtime, but even in regulation, he had 24 carries.

    With almost no competition for carries, Gibbs should clear 20+ every week.

    Leg 3: Jared Goff 24+ Completions (-140)

    In Week 1, the Bills played the Houston Texans, led by quarterback C.J. Stroud.

    The Bills did a good job of mixing up coverages against the Texans, but the three that stood out most were Cover-3 (13 dropbacks), Cover-4 (8 dropbacks), and Cover-6 (9 dropbacks).

    Since last season, Goff has been excellent against all three. In all, he’s completed 69.9% of his passes for 2,520 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Of his pass completions, 152 were between 0 and 10 yards downfield, which are, of course, much higher-percentage looks.

    The Bills do mix up coverages, but again, those were the three most prominent. If we get that again, Goff has consistently performed well against all of those.
