NFL Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Panthers vs. Packers
(Odds Courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers
Leg 1: Carolina Panthers Moneyline (+160)
For the first leg of this parlay, I’m swinging big with a Panthers outright win.
The Packers play varied coverages, but they play Cover 2 more than any other team. Against Cover 2, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has been excellent. He’s completed 18-of-26 passes for 328 yards (12.6 yards per attempt) and one touchdown. On the flip side, the Panthers mostly play Cover 3. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has completed fewer than 60% of his passes for 630 yards (7.2 yards per attempt), three touchdowns and three interceptions against Cover 3.
The Panthers are dreadful against the run, and the Packers’ running game has been, too, averaging fewer than 60 yards per game.
As for the Panthers’ running game, they’ll have a chance to beat up on the Packers, who allow 95.1 rushing yards and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game. Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has run for 120+ yards in two of the last three games.
I expect a close game here, and would be totally content if you pivoted to Panthers +3.5 (-108).
Leg 2: Chuba Hubbard Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-120)
Over the last three games, Chuba Hubbard has handled 78.6% of the Panthers’ running back carries. In that span, he’s recorded 61 touches (20.3 per game) and three touchdowns. A whopping 41.8% of his carries have gone for at least five yards.
Now, Hubbard faces a Packers defense that allows running backs 23.71 carries for 95.1 yards and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game. In the passing game, they allow running backs 4.4 catches for 33 yards per game. Hubbard has an 8.5% target share, catching 15 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Hubbard is in a fantastic spot to score.
Leg 3: Tucker Kraft Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+165)
Tucker Kraft enters Week 8 with two touchdowns this season, including one last week. Now, he faces a Panthers defense that has allowed four touchdowns to tight ends this season.
As mentioned, the Panthers primarily play Cover 3. Against this coverage, Kraft has caught 11 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. His reception percentage is the highest on the team among players with at least 10 targets against Cover 3.
Given the Panthers’ recent coverage against tight ends, including allowing seven receptions for 65 yards to Eagles tight ends and nine catches for 92 yards and a touchdown to Lions tight ends, I’ll roll the dice on Kraft.
Parlay Odds: +1000
