NFL Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Steelers vs. Browns

It’s safe to say the Week 3 Thursday Night Football matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers was more of a surprise than we expected. Now, heading into Week 4, we have a showdown between two 2-1 squads from the AFC North, with the Cleveland Browns hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. Below, we will share our top NFL Thursday Night Football same game parlay (SGP).

In Week 3, the Steelers clutched a 30-27 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did his part, throwing for 292 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two 20+ yard touchdowns to Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek.

The Browns hosted the Carolina Panthers and beat them 21-18. With less than two minutes to go, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson delivered a go-ahead touchdown drive that, I have to be honest, looked like vintage Watson. In the fourth quarter, Watson completed 6-of-9 passes for 77 yards and the go-ahead touchdown.

With each team coming off a win, who gets it done here? Below is a three-leg SGP for you to check out.

        Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns

Leg 1: Cleveland Browns Moneyline (+124)

The Browns are home underdogs, but I like them on the Moneyline.

Over the first two weeks of the season, Deshaun Watson looked great. He completed 76.9% of his passes, averaged 8.5 yards per attempt and threw three touchdowns to just one interception.

In Week 3, he took a bit of a step back overall, completing 53.3% of his passes, but that final drive was excellent.

Defensively, the Browns are one of the better units. They’re tied for fifth in the NFL in pressures with 49, and they play two coverages, Cover 1 and Cover 3, that Aaron Rodgers has struggled against this season - 51.5% completion rate and a mere 5.6 yards per attempt.

I know the Steelers are coming off a great game, but the Browns are playing quite well, and their pressure rate against an aging Rodgers could be a problem.

Leg 2: Harold Fannin Jr. Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+300)

A big part of the Browns’ early-season success is their bevy of weapons, including Harold Fannin Jr. He is second on the team in target share and has 14 catches on 18 targets for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

However, looking at Week 3, the Steelers deployed a lot of Cover 3 and Cover 4 against the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow.

Against those coverages, Fannin leads the team in target share at 23.7% with nine catches on nine targets for 88 yards and a touchdown. Only he and Denzel Boston have caught a touchdown against those coverages this season.

On top of that, the Steelers gave up a touchdown last week to Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki.

        Leg 3: Aaron Rodgers 1+ Interceptions (-101)

Heading into Week 4, Aaron Rodgers has thrown an interception in back-to-back games, and now he’s facing a Browns defense that, as mentioned, plays coverages Rodgers has struggled against and brings heavy pressure.

Under pressure this season, Rodgers has two turnover-worthy plays. In his last start against the Browns, a 13-6 loss in Week 17 of last season, Rodgers completed 53.8% of his passes and had a turnover-worthy play.
