NFL Week 11 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2022)

We could have our first serious snow game of the 2022 season. A massive winter storm is expected to hit Buffalo later this week and could continue into Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park.

Buffalo could get as much as six feet of snow by Sunday, which could prompt the NFL to move the game if the conditions are too hazardous.

Editor’s Note: Sunday’s game between the Browns and Bills has been moved from Buffalo to Detroit due to concerns about the impending snowstorm.

The worst of the weather is expected to be done by kickoff, but you never know with lake effect snow. With that being said, let’s begin our Week 11 NFL weather report in Buffalo.

Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills (-7.5) | Total 42.5

Forecast: 32 degrees, 94% chance of snow showers
Wind speed: 22-44 MPH

Earlier in the week, the total for this game bottomed out at 41 but has since bounced back, as it looks like the worst of the storm will be done by kickoff. The conditions could, however, lead to a “Snowver.” The common perception is that snow can completely derail an offense. However, slick field conditions are actually more of a disadvantage for defenders who don’t have the luxury of knowing where the play is going. Combine that with poor footing, and life is actually pretty hard for defenders in wintry conditions.

However, a potential snowver could be spoiled by high winds, which is expected in Buffalo throughout the day. It will be critical to monitor this storm and the winds up until kickoff, and I wouldn’t recommend a play either way until hours before kickoff.

New York Jets at New England Patriots (-3.5) | Total 38.5

Forecast: 39 degrees, 7% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 21-40 MPH

While the snowstorm won’t impact the New England area, high winds could be a major factor. These two teams struggle enough offensively and feature stout defenses. Plus, this is the second showdown of the season between these two division rivals in three weeks. If the forecasted winds hold, the under is a great play.

Detroit Lions at New York Giants (-3) | Total 45

Forecast: 37 degrees, 4% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 17-39 MPH

Another windy forecast is expected at MetLife Stadium. While that won’t impact a Giants offense that can’t throw the ball, it could be bad news for Jared Goff and Detroit’s passing game.

Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens (-13) | Total 41.5

Forecast: 40 degrees, 2% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 14-32 MPH

While the sustained winds aren’t expected to be as high as in Buffalo or New Jersey, there could be some strong gusts Sunday afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium. High winds may not matter much for two teams that want to keep the ball on the ground.

Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos (-2.5) | Total 41.5

Forecast: 47 degrees, 1% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 6-12 MPH

Nothing of note to worry about in the Mile High City.

Cincinnati Bengals (-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers | Total 41

Forecast: 30 degrees, 6% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 13-28 MPH

Again, pay attention to those winds, as they could reach 30 MPH at times Sunday. However, the sustained winds at 13 MPH don’t appear high enough to automatically warrant an under.

Week 11 Weather Play of the Week: Under 38.5 Jets-Patriots

With the situation in Buffalo still uncertain, I’m going to recommend the under in the Jets-Patriots game for now. High winds combined with great defenses and bad offenses make getting over this total even harder to do. If the winds remain high in Buffalo, the under is the recommendation.
