NFL Week 12 First Touchdown Scorer Picks & Predictions

(All bets are one unit unless otherwise stated.)

Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs

The Colts are coming off a bye this week to face the Chiefs in Kansas City. The Chiefs have been the third-worst team in first-quarter points this season, scoring just 2.9 per game, while the Colts rank second at 7.2. Both defenses are in the top ten in points allowed in the first quarter, so Indianapolis should have the advantage of starting better. They have also had the first possession 80% of the time this season, while the Chiefs sit at 10%. The best value on the Colts is Michael Pittman Jr. He has eight red zone targets this season and has caught five, with four touchdowns. He also leads the team with seven targets per game. He is a solid play this week and offers excellent value.

Pick: Michael Pittman Jr. ( +1700 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

The Packers do not score much in the first quarter, but also allow the fewest first-quarter points per game this season. The Vikings are middle of the pack in both categories and have one weakness on their defense that the Packers can exploit. They allow the highest deep-ball completion rate and the 12th-most deep passing yards per game. Christian Watson is a phenomenal play this week due to his downfield targets. Since returning in Week 8, he has had eight deep targets. Expect Jordan Love and the Packers to look for him downfield all game.

Pick: Christian Watson (+1000 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals

DeMario Douglas is fifth on the team in targets per game with 3.2, but third among pass-catchers in red zone targets. He has also scored two first touchdowns this season and has only three total touchdowns. He has six red zone targets and has caught three of them, two for touchdowns. Drake Maye and the Patriots spread the ball around, which means you can find superb value in the first scorer of the game. Douglas is a great dice-roll this week against a Bengals' defense that has allowed the most points per game.

Pick: DeMario Douglas ( +2700 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

Dallas allows the second-most first-quarter points per game this season (7.1), and Philadelphia scores 6.5 points per first quarter this season. Dallas Goedert is second on the team among pass-catchers in red zone targets per game, with seven. He has caught all seven and six for touchdowns. Goedert should be involved, much like he was in their Week 1 matchup. He caught all seven of his targets for 44 yards and no touchdowns. He went on to score in four consecutive weeks after missing week two. The Eagles' tight end has not scored in two weeks, but his opportunities should come this week against the Cowboys' defense. They have allowed the second-most points per game this season, so Goedert should have a good chance to score first.

Pick: Dallas Goedert (+1200 via bet365)
