NFL Week 12 Weather Report & Predictions (2024)

We’re onto Week 12 of the National Football League (NFL) regular season. We have six teams on a bye this week, as the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets are off this week. Four of those six teams play in outdoor venues, and at least three have some ugly weather this time of year.

We had a snow-globe game on Thursday Night Football in the battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Ohio. It was beautiful and showcased why football should always be played outdoors in the elements. Football is an outdoor game that belongs on grass, not indoors.

Anyway, if you’re an old-school fan who enjoys outdoor football, we have just seven games outside this week, with perhaps an eighth if NRG Stadium in Houston has its roof open. Only one venue looks to be dealing with any kind of weather, so it’s good for fantasy football purposes, but it’s bad if you like to see sloppy football the way it used to be played in the elements.

Let’s dive into the Week 12 weather report.

NFL Week 12 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions

All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com | Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook

Detroit Lions (-7.5) at Indianapolis Colts | Total 50.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

The Lions are usually indoors at Ford Field, and the Colts are an indoor team. Boring. Unless, of course, you enjoy a fast track with a lot of passing. Then, this might be your kind of game, as the football will be flying all over Lucas Oil Stadium.

Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5) at Carolina Panthers | Total 43

Forecast: 61 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 4-6 MPH

The Chiefs and Panthers meet up in Charlotte, and the weather will be rather pleasant. What is likely not going to be pleasant is the disposition of the Chiefs, as they’re coming off their first loss of the season to Buffalo in Week 11.

Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) at Chicago Bears | Total 39

Forecast: 49 degrees, 10% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 7-9 MPH

The Vikings are on the road for a third consecutive game. The Chicagoland area had inches of snow late in the week, but it has all since melted. There is no more precipitation expected for Sunday’s game. The breezes will be rather light, too.

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders (-3) | Total 45.5

Forecast: 56 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 8-10 MPH

The Dallas Cowboys stumble into the nation’s capital in desperate need of a victory, but it’s been a tough go with QB Dak Prescott done for the season. At least Dallas won’t have to deal with ugly weather in D.C.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6) at New York Giants | Total 41

Forecast: 51 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 14-16 MPH

The big news here is that QB Tommy Devito takes the reins of the offense, as not only was QB Daniel Jones demoted from a starting role, but he has since been released by the organization. DeVito and the rest of the Giants will have to deal with a stiff wind, which could impact the passing and kicking games the most.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins (-7.5) | Total 46.5

Forecast: 75 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 6-8 MPH

The Dolphins will welcome the Patriots to South Florida, and the weather will be rather pleasant. I went to a Patriots-Dolphins game one season in September, and the heat index was over 110 degrees. South Florida is much more enjoyable this time of year.

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (-8) | Total 40.5

Forecast: 81 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 14-17 MPH

The roof opens at NRG Stadium, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case on Sunday. While precipitation isn’t a problem, winds in the Gulf Coast region will be whipping up around 14-17 miles per hour (MPH).

Denver Broncos (-6) at Las Vegas Raiders | Total 41.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

The Broncos and Raiders meet on The Strip, and they’ll play indoors without the worry of the elements. The weather should be just fine in Las Vegas at this time of year.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (-1) | Total 47.5

Forecast: 45 degrees, 90% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 3-5 MPH

Ah, good ol’ Seattle. Whenever the weather is boring in other NFL venues, you can usually look to the Pacific Northwest for entertaining weather. We should have a steady shield of rain, and it will be a chilly one, too, while the winds will be rather light. Look for a wet, slick surface with a slippery football.

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers (-5.5) | Total 44

Forecast: 44 degrees, 10% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 6-8 MPH

Normally, Lambeau Field can be a crapshoot this time of year, as far as weather is concerned, but all signs point to a rather pleasant forecast and balmy conditions for this battle between NFC rivals on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles (-3) at Los Angeles Rams | Total 49

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

Well, we get not one, but two boring indoor games at SoFi Stadium for Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football. The Eagles and Rams will play indoors on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) at Los Angeles Chargers | Total 51

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson probably won’t be sad to see a dry, fast track on Monday Night Football. The defense of the Chargers against the powerful offense of the Ravens will be a lot more entertaining.
