NFL Week 13 Game Preview: Odds, Picks & Predictions (49ers vs. Eagles)
Two powerhouses will meet this Sunday afternoon, and one will be one step closer to home-field advantage. The Eagles are 10-1 on the season and have a two-game lead on the 49ers for the top seed in the NFC. The 49ers are 8-3 and were second in the conference entering this week (Dallas moved to 10-3 on Thursday Night Football, which technically puts them in second for now).
It will be an exciting rematch of last year's Conference Championship game.
The 49ers beat the Seahawks 31 to 13 on Thanksgiving night last week. Defensive end Arik Armstead is on the injury report this week with a foot injury. He has not practiced this week but said he will be out there. Running back Jordan Mason and wide receiver/returner Ray-Ray McCloud have missed practice this week. Their status is questionable and could force the 49ers to use a different returner.
The Eagles came from behind to beat the Bills 37 to 34 in overtime last week. The Eagles have multiple notable injuries on each side of the ball. Tight end Dallas Goedert has not practiced all week and is in jeopardy of missing his third consecutive game due to a forearm injury. Wide receivers A.J. Brown (thigh) and Julio Jones (knee) were limited in Thursday's practice.
Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and Jordan Davis are also on the injury report. Cox has not practiced this week due to a groin injury, and his status is up in the air. Davis was a limited participant on Thursday while dealing with a hamstring issue. Linebacker Zach Cunningham did not practice Thursday due to a hamstring injury.

Will the Eagles Take Care of the Football?
The Eagles have been exceptional this season in almost every area of the game. The one area where they are having trouble is turnovers. They had two last week against the Bills, which nearly cost them the game. It took a heroic comeback to force overtime, where they ultimately won. The 49ers are not a team to be sloppy against. They have a +11 turnover differential, tied for first with the Steelers.
The Eagles have a -2 differential and have not forced many turnovers. The 49ers lead the league in interceptions with 15. Jalen Hurts threw six interceptions in 15 games last season and has 10 interceptions this season. He must take care of the ball in this matchup.
Will the 49ers Get Redemption?
The 49ers lost three consecutive games this season, and two of them were without Trent Williams. He is vital to this offense and will be relied upon this week. The Eagles' pass rush is fierce, but their secondary is atrocious. They got Kevin Byard via trade, but they are still below average. Brock Purdy must make downfield throws this week, as the Eagles are great at tackling.
They hold teams to 4.4 yards after catch per reception, which is important as they face the league leader in that category. The 49ers have several weapons on the offensive side of the ball, and they like to get the ball quickly so they can make plays. The game will rely more on the arm of Purdy this week. He left with an elbow injury in their playoff matchup last year but has a chance to redeem himself and get his team a chance at the top seed.
The pick: 49ers -3
