NFL Week 14 Anytime Touchdown Scorer
(Odds Courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Minnesota Vikings at Las Vegas Raiders
It's rare for a running back that averages 13+ carries per game to not have a rushing touchdown after 12 games. However, that's where we are with Alexander Mattison this season. Fortunately for fantasy owners, there's a good chance that the scoreless streak on the ground changes this Sunday against the Raiders.
This season, the Raiders give up the eighth-most rushing yards in the NFL with 127.0 per game. Additionally, the Raiders have given up 12 rushing touchdowns this season. In the Raiders last game, they gave up two rushing touchdowns to Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco. If the Vikings offensive line can generate some type of push up front, this matchup bodes well for Mattison.
In his past two games, he's finding more success on the ground and has averaged 4.75 yards per carry during that time. With Joshua Dobbs starting to come back to earth with his overall play and a matchup against a bad Raiders run defense, I like this spot. Mattison should be able to have one of his better games of the year and he should be able to find the end zone for the first time since Week 9 against Atlanta.
Bet: Vikings RB Alexander Mattison Anytime TD (+145)
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
We've gone with Lions running back David Montgomery for two out of the past three weeks and we're going to look for him to score again. Since the bye week, Montgomery has scored in four consecutive games. Despite the Bears having better play from their defense since Week 8, the weather is going to be a factor in this game and the Lions offense is one of the best units in football.
With that, I think offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will lean on his backfield to win this game. Meanwhile, Montgomery returns to Chicago for the first time so it's safe to assume that he'll be looking for revenge. Earlier this year, the Lions escaped a scare from the Bears and much of it was due to Montgomery. In that game, he had 12 carries for 76 yards and two receptions for 22 yards. Also, he scored in that game.
So far this season, Montgomery has 151 carries for 704 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, the Bears have given up the 9th most red-zone touchdowns in the NFL this season with 24 total touchdowns. I'm ignoring their stingy run defense and trusting that down in the red-zone, Montgomery will see the touches needed to get into the end-zone. So far this season, he has the 3rd most carries in the red-zone for running backs with 42 carries. In addition to that, his 8 rushing touchdowns in the red-zone is 4th best in the NFL. Trust the Lions offense to get moving in this game and much of it being reliant on their veteran running back.
Bet: Lions RB David Montgomery Anytime TD (-110)
