NFL Week 16 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2023)

We have a holiday weekend chock full of football in Week 15, with two games on Saturday, 10 games on Sunday, and three more games on Christmas Day. If you’re a fan of ugly weather and snow games, you’re going to be disappointed this week. Every single outdoor venue this weekend has a 25% chance of precipitation or lower, and 15% or lower in all but one venue.

It’s a far cry from the rainy and windy conditions which created plenty of mud and slop across the NFL last season. For fantasy managers in the playoffs, though, it’s actually rather optimal conditions, as a season’s worth of work won’t be washed away by ugly weather conditions.

Let’s look at the Week 16 weather report.

NFL Week 16 Weather Report

All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers, Total 38.5

Forecast: 48 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation (Saturday game)

Wind speed: 5-7 MPH

The Bengals and Steelers meet for the second time this season, and while it will be a little cool and cloudy, the conditions are pretty good for this time of the year in the Steel City.

Buffalo Bills (-12.5) at Los Angeles Chargers, Total 44.5

Forecast: Indoors (Saturday game)

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Bills will be excited to be indoors in California rather than back home in western New York, although the weather hasn’t been too bad this season. Remember when the Bills had to move a game to Detroit because of a boatload of snow last season?

Indianapolis Colts at Atlanta Falcons (-2.5), Total 45.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Colts and Falcons will be playing in the warm, toasty confines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, for this Sunday afternoon matchup which has surprising playoff implications in both the AFC and NFC.

Green Bay Packers (-4) at Carolina Panthers, Total 37.5

Forecast: 61 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 3-4 MPH

The weather will be like night and day for the Panthers, as opposed to last weekend’s maelstrom. Carolina actually responded well in the adverse conditions, so can it keep up the good work with a dry track?

Cleveland Browns (-2.5) at Houston Texans, Total 40.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Browns will be indoors for just the second time in the past nine games, and they’ll be facing a backup signal caller, as Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is out again with a concussion.

Seattle Seahawks (-3) at Tennessee Titans, Total 41.5

Forecast: 67 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 8-11 MPH

The Seahawks head to the Music City, and the conditions will be rather fall-like in this first NFL weekend of winter. Perhaps the wind will be a slight factor, but both these quarterbacks and kickers can’t handle.

Washington Commanders at New York Jets (-3), Total 36.5

Forecast: 45 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 1-2 MPH

The Commanders head north to familiar territory, as Washington plays at MetLife Stadium each season against the New York Giants. The weather conditions will be rather boring for December.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1.5), Total 42

Forecast: 75 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 8-11 MPH

These two Florida teams will play in warm game on Christmas Eve on the Sun coast. The warm weather might be good news for the ankle of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Detroit Lions (-3) at Minnesota Vikings, Total 47

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Lions meet the Vikings for the first of two games in the next three weekends, getting a fast track for these NFC North rivals to do their thing without interference from the elements.

Dallas Cowboys at Miami Dolphins (-1.5), Total 49.5

Forecast: 76 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 13-15 MPH

Is this a Super Bowl preview? Some delusional fans might think so. The teams will have a difficult opponent on the other side, but at least weather won’t be an issue, although this is the windiest forecast of the weekend, and that could affect the passing and kicking games.

Arizona Cardinals at Chicago Bears (-3.5), Total 43

Forecast: 54 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 9-11 MPH

The temperatures will be in the mid-50’s along the shores of Lake Michigan in late December. Man, the Cardinals certainly lucked out with that forecast.

New England Patriots at Denver Broncos (-7.5), Total 35.5

Forecast: 29 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 7-10 MPH

The temperatures are the chilliest of any NFL venue for this Sunday night holiday classic affair. However, the air will be bone dry, with only a slight breeze.

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs (-10), Total 40.5

Forecast: 38 degrees, 25% chance of precipitation (Monday game)

Wind speed: 11-14 MPH

The best chance of precipitation is on Christmas Day at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, but even then it isn’t going to anything which affects the on-field play too much.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (-7.5), Total 43

Forecast: 49 degrees, 10% chance of precipitation (Monday game)

Wind speed: 1-2 MPH

The conditions will be rather balmy in Philadelphia, and, more importantly for the home side, dry. The past two home games have been soakers, so these dry conditions will be nice for Philly.

Baltimore Ravens at San Francisco 49ers (-5.5), Total 47.5

Forecast: 57 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation (Monday game)

Wind speed: 2-4 MPH

The Bay Area will see temperatures in the mid-50’s for this Christmas evening affair. We’ll get a fast track for these two NFL behemoths, and this could truly be a Super Bowl preview.
