NFL Week 16 Weather Report & Predictions (2024)

It’s Week 16 of the National Football League (NFL) regular season. I have to admit, I am a little upset about the beautiful weather lately. As a fantasy football player or bettor, it’s nice to see a clear, fast track. But, for entertainment purposes, it’s nice to see cruddy weather.

We really have just one trouble spot this week, and it’s one of the usual suspects. The good news is that we have just four indoor venues this week, as football belongs outside in the elements, and I’ll argue with anyone about that fact. This isn’t basketball or hockey.

Let’s dive into the Week 16 weather report.

NFL Week 16 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions

(All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com | Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) | Total 42.5 (Saturday)

Forecast: 37 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 3-5 MPH

On Saturday afternoon, the Texans and Chiefs square off in rather chilly conditions, but the skies will be sunny, and there is no chance of precipitation.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens (-6.5) | Total 44.5 (Saturday)

Forecast: 37 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 16-18 MPH

In the second installment of this AFC North Division rivalry, these teams meet in Charm City. The temperature and precipitation are identical to Kansas City’s, but winds will be substantial, greatly affecting both sides’ passing and kicking games.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-8.5) | Total 46.5

Forecast: 30 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 3-5 MPH

The Browns and Bengals meet in the second Battle of Ohio this season. The temperatures will be at or around freezing, and the winds will be rather calm in this battle between QB Joe Burrow and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Detroit Lions (-6.5) at Chicago Bears | Total 48

Forecast: 31 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 10-12 MPH

The Lions and Bears will not have to deal with precipitation, but like in Baltimore on Saturday, Chicago will earn its city nickname as the “Windy City”. The passing games could be greatly affected, and that’s especially bad for rookie QB Caleb Williams, who doesn’t need any further hurdles.

Arizona Cardinals (-4.5) at Carolina Panthers | Total 47

Forecast: 39 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 4-6 MPH

It will be rather chilly for North Carolina on Sunday, and it could be a shock to the system for the Cardinals. At least the skies will be sunny, and the winds will not be strong at all.

Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at Washington Commanders | Total 45.5

Forecast: 30 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 6-8 MPH

The Eagles and Commanders meet for the second time this season and the first time on a Sunday. The weather will be pleasant in D.C., although the winds will be kicking up a little bit.

New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons (-8.5) | Total 42

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

The Giants gave big money to QB Daniel Jones a couple of years ago, and the Falcons backed up the Brinks truck for QB Kirk Cousins. Jones is on the practice squad in Minnesota now, and Cousins is on the bench with rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. starting.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) | Total 42.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

The Titans and Colts battle under controlled environmental conditions in Indianapolis as the home team looks to keep its flickering playoff hopes alive.

Los Angeles Rams (-3) at New York Jets | Total 46.5

Forecast: 25 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 9-11 MPH

The Rams head east of the Mississippi River for the fifth time this season, and they’ve won and covered the past two trips. The Jets are having another brutal season, but at least the weather will be nice Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Seattle Seahawks | Total 42.5

Forecast: 49 degrees, 95% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 7-9 MPH

And here we are, the worst trouble spot on the NFL schedule. Are you surprised it’s Seattle? It will be a typical Pacific Northwest weather day with a strong chance of rain for the entirety of the game. There will be rather breezy conditions off of the Puget Sound, too, gusty to 12-15 MPH at times.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-14) | Total 46.5

Forecast: 15 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 2-4 MPH

There will be snow showers in the vicinity, but the real weather should taper off early in the afternoon. The drive to the stadium and some tailgates might be affected by the very light snow or flurries, but the game will likely be precipitation-free with very light wind. The big story will be the brutally cold conditions, with the lowest kickoff temperature of the season in the NFL.

San Francisco 49ers (-1) at Miami Dolphins | Total 44.5

Forecast: 73 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 8-10 MPH

The Niners go cross-country to battle the Dolphins. While the weather won’t be particularly interesting at Hard Rock Stadium, this one will see the losing team guaranteed to have a record under .500.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5) | Total 40.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

The Jaguars and Raiders are basically in a battle for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While that aspect is interesting, there is no worry about the weather under the roof in Vegas.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4) at Dallas Cowboys | Total 48

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome

On Sunday Night Football, there will be no need for the curtain at Jerry World to block out the sun for this evening battle. It’s a little surprising that this one wasn’t flexed out of this spot.

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (-14) | Total 42.5

Forecast: 31 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 4-6 MPH

The Saints and Packers will have to contend with temperatures around the freezing mark and some light winds. Snow will fall on Monday afternoon, but by the time kickoff comes around, the weather should have moved out over Lake Michigan and away from the area. Let’s hope the forecast changes and the system slows down for another primetime snow game!
