NFL Week 2 Picks & Predictions: Early Line Movement (2024)

As the season progresses, we monitor all the NFL Lines throughout the week, dissecting any significant move that may have happened. Below are some of the most significant early line movements for Week 2.

NFL Week 2 Line Movement

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Las Vegas Raiders @ Baltimore Ravens

  • Open: Ravens -7.5
  • Current: Ravens -9.5

In the offseason, DraftKings posted the look-ahead line with the Ravens being 7.5-point home favorites. After the Week 2 games concluded, this line moved up to 8. As of Monday morning, it’s 9.5 in most places, and we have started to see 10s pop up at a few shops.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Carolina Panthers

  • Open: Chargers -3.5
  • Current: Chargers -5.5

The Chargers opened as 3.5-point road favorites, which stayed steady until the conclusion of Sunday’s games. At that point, we saw this line jump up to 6 briefly, settling in at 5.5 as of Monday morning.

Much of that has to do with the 37-beatdown the Panthers took by their division rival, New Orleans Saints. A three-point move in favor of the Chargers could be a bit of an overreaction, which is why we saw this line come back down when it reached 6.

Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay Packers

  • Open: Packers -4
  • Current: Colts -3.5

The majority of this line move is due to Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s injury. Love left Friday night’s game with an apparent leg injury, and it was reported he had an MCL sprain, which would require Love to miss 3-4 weeks.

It is yet to be determined who will start in Love’s place this week, but Green Bay’s depth chart lists Malik Willis as the backup.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs

  • Open: Chiefs -3.5
  • Current: Chiefs -6

Look-ahead lines during the offseason had the Chiefs as 3- or 3,5-point favorites, depending on the sportsbook you were looking at. After a big win for the Chiefs against the Ravens on opening nights and the Bengals being upset by the Patriots, bettors are running to the window to get down on the Chiefs.

After the Bengals game, this line jumped from 3.5 to 6, with a few 5.5s still out there at some spots.

Chicago Bears @ Houston Texans

  • Open: Texans -3.5
  • Current: Texans -6.5

Bettors are not buying into the Bears just yet despite their come-from-behind win against the Titans. The Titans held a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter yet lost the game despite the Bears never scoring an offensive touchdown.

Sunday evening, we saw this line start to climb. It got up to 6 by Sunday night and woke up to 6.5 across the board. At the time of writing this, we saw Circa Las Vegas actually make the Texans 7-point favorites.
