NFL Week 2 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2022)
It only took one week for us to have a wild weather game, as you needed an ark to get around Chicago last Sunday after heavy rains flooded the city and Soldier Field.
The weather played a significant role in last week’s Bears-49ers game, as both teams struggled mightily to move the ball due to the rain, wind and sloppy field. Let’s hope Mother Nature isn’t quite as nasty this weekend.
All weather forecasts come from AccuWeather.com
New England Patriots -2 at Pittsburgh Steelers, Total 40.5
Forecast: 84 degrees, 4% chance of rain
Wind speed: 8-15 MPH
Pittsburgh’s home opener looks to be a beautiful day. Now we just have to see if Mac Jones is still feeling under the weather by kickoff.
Carolina Panthers at New York Giants -2, Total 43.5
Forecast: 87 degrees, 1% chance of rain
Wind speed: 9-17 MPH
The winds may be a little gusty at times at MetLife Stadium. But otherwise, it looks to be a perfect afternoon for football.
New York Jets at Cleveland Browns -6.5, Total 39.5
Forecast: 84 degrees, 5% chance of rain
Wind speed: 12-25 MPH
A nice day in Cleveland? Didn’t know that was possible! The winds may be something to watch and could further bolster a play on the under in a game featuring two weak quarterbacks.
Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens -3.5, Total 44.5
Forecast: 87 degrees, 3% chance of rain
Wind speed: 7-13 MPH
Like the rest of the Northeast, it’ll be a beautiful day in Baltimore.
Indianapolis Colts -3.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars, Total 45
Forecast: 85 degrees, 42% chance of rain
Wind speed: 9-20 MPH
You can never count out a flash thunderstorm in Florida, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be raining all game, if at all. The weather in Jacksonville may be worth monitoring as we get closer to game time, but nothing jumps out as of now.
Houston Texans at Denver Broncos -10, Total 45.5
Forecast: 86 degrees, 2% chance of rain
Wind speed: 6-16 MPH
A picture-perfect day in the Mile High City.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers -9, Total 41
Forecast: 69 degrees, 91% chance of rain
Wind speed: 23-41 MPH
The 49ers can’t catch a break, as their home opener looks like another nasty day. It may not rain as hard as in Chicago in Week 1, but the winds could be a significant factor for quarterbacks Trey Lance and Geno Smith. Expect these two run-oriented teams to keep the ball on the ground, with the under 41 being a legitimate play.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers -10, Total 41.5
Forecast: 74 degrees, 15% chance of rain
Wind speed: 7-9 MPH
It’s still too early to dub Lambeau Field the frozen tundra yet. Conditions look to be quite pleasant for this Sunday night rivalry game.
Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills -9.5, Total 48.5
Forecast: 71 degrees, 55% chance of rain
Wind speed: 15-28 MPH
The weather can always be a factor in Buffalo, especially come wintertime. The forecast seems to be a bit up in the air. Rain is expected during the day but could clear out by game time. For now, there are no weather-related action items.
Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles, -2, Total 50.5
Forecast: 80 degrees, 57% chance of rain
Wind speed: 6-8 MPH
It’s not always sunny in Philadelphia, clearly. However, any rain on Monday night looks to be of the lighter variety. And with modest winds, there are no real weather threats for this Monday night showdown.
Weather Play of the Weekend:
- 49ers-Seahawks: Under 41
