Small Long Shot (odds up to +140)

In Week 2, we saw Tom Brady beat the New Orleans Saints to end his regular-season losing streak against them. In Week 4, I think we see Sean McVay end his regular season losing streak of six straight against Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. Like Brady, McVay has had playoff success against his regular season nemesis when the Rams beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship game last year to advance to and eventually win the Super Bowl. McVay will look to carry the confidence from the playoff win last year into this week’s matchup with the 49ers.

The Rams come into this week with a 2-1 record after a win against the Cardinals in Week 3. The 49ers are 1-2 after a loss against the Broncos where the defense only allowed 11 points, but the offense could only muster 10 points. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams potentially being out multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain could prove to be a big issue for San Francisco, especially this week with Aaron Donald looking to cause havoc for Jimmy Garoppolo.

Pick: The Los Angeles Rams (+110)

Medium Long Shot (odds between +141 to +200)

Tennessee will head to Indianapolis to face the Colts in week four. Both of these teams were winless going into Week 3 matchups against AFC West opponents. The Titans squeezed out a 24-22 win against the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Colts pulled off the surprising upset over the Kansas City Chiefs with a 20-17 win.

Even though both of these teams walked away with wins, only one passed the eye test. Derrick Henry stood out and looked like one of the best offensive weapons in the game. Not just rushing, but Henry even caught five passes for 58 yards to go along with his 85 yards rushing. The Colts’ win didn’t provide as much confidence. The Chiefs appeared to beat themselves with mistake after mistake, and the Colts were still barely able to hold on and win by three points.

So far this season, the Colts barely squeezed out a tie against the league’s last-place Houston Texans, they were shut out by the Jacksonville Jaguars and had a surprising win against a Kansas City Chiefs team that couldn’t do anything right. Until the Colts show some life of their own, I like the value when their opponents are underdogs.

Pick: The Tennessee Titans (+148)

Large Long Shot (odds of +201 and up)

If you have followed this underdog moneyline article each week, this next selection won’t surprise you. I’ve picked the Jacksonville Jaguars every week, and I don’t think I’ll stop until they start to get a bit more respect.

The Philadelphia Eagles are playing very good football and are probably the best team in the league through three weeks. However, the Jaguars have looked really good on their way to a 2-1 record with two decisive wins over the past two weeks, including a 24-0 shutout against the Colts and 38-10 win over the Chargers.

In his first year coaching the Jaguars, Super Bowl winner Doug Pederson returns to Philadelphia, where he has a statue in his honor. Pederson has Trevor Lawrence looking like a budding superstar and the generational talent he was billed to be during his college career. We’ve seen the combination of a young talented quarterback paired with a veteran coach have a lot of success in the league over the last decade, and I believe we may have the next iteration developing in Jacksonville.

Pick: The Jacksonville Jaguars (+220)

The Long Shot Parlay for Week Four:

  • Leg 1: Los Angeles Rams (+110)
  • Leg 2: Tennessee Titans (+148)
  • Leg 3: Miami Dolphins (+220)

Parlay: +1566 (FanDuel Sportsbook)
