Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys

There are a few difficult games to predict in the Week 6 slate, especially with injuries and how certain players will be used or if they can and will step up. For this week, I’m turning to one of the most reliable offenses in the league with the Detroit Lions.

When looking at the Lions offense, they average 397 yards per game, good for third-best in the NFL. Meanwhile, their 151.3 rushing yards per game is seventh-best in the NFL. Behind that is their dual backfield of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. At any point, either running back could have a big play that changes the game. Zeroing in on Jahmyr Gibbs, he’s starting to become more consistent each week when running the football. Over his last three games, he’s run for over 75+ yards in each game and he has three touchdowns during that span.

The Cowboys’ run defense has been less than ideal this season by allowing an average of 135 rushing yards per game. Over their last two games, they’ve improved by only allowing a total of 118 rushing yards, but that should change with Detroit’s offensive line coming to town. Often rated as the best offensive line in football, it’s hard to imagine scenarios where Gibbs and Montgomery don’t have good games.

Through four games this season, Jahmyr Gibbs has scored in every single game but one. The Cowboys defense has allowed seven total touchdowns to running backs this year. With how banged up the Cowboys are on the defensive side of the football, there could be multiple offensive series for Detroit where both of their running backs get heavily used. Oftentimes, we’ll see Gibbs utilized better in the passing game than Montgomery so there could be more opportunities for Gibbs to touch the football.

Looking at how last year’s game against the Cowboys ended for the Lions, I’d have to imagine this is a game that Dan Campbell has had circled on the calendar. Coming off a bye week and getting healthier, this matchup bodes well for the Lions and their offense. Give me Gibbs to score and the Lions to win in this one.

Bet: Jahmyr Gibbs to Score Anytime / DET Lions to Win (+155)
