NFL Week 6 Composite Power Ratings (2024)
Each week, I compile power ratings from a bevy of respected sources across the NFL handicapping community. Power ratings are designed to identify how many points a team would be favored by against an average team on a neutral field. By calculating the difference in ratings between the two teams (and adjusting for home-field advantage), you can get a ratings-implied spread to compare to the actual spread. In the second section, I’ve done that while assuming a value of 1.5 points for home-field advantage and using the composite spread from all the sources. Additionally, I’ve provided some comments on trends and numbers that stood out to me.
Week 6 NFL Composite Power Ratings
- The NFC North is the best division in football right now with three teams in the top seven of the composite ratings. The odds to win the division are led by the 5-0 Vikings (-105), followed by the Lions (+200), and brought up by the Packers (+700). That said, I think this division is still wide open given the only divisional matchup has been the Week 4 tilt between the Packers and Vikings.
Week 6 Matchups
- The biggest discrepancy in the market ratings and the spread is between the Broncos and the Chargers. I wrote yesterday about how I think the Chargers’ play style and Denver’s great defense could prevent Los Angeles from scoring a lot, so I lean with the market ratings here. If it stays at 2.5, then the Broncos also make an excellent teaser leg.
