It can’t be often that a 1-4 team has been a seven point favorite. The Raiders have not been as bad as their record indicates, but the team clearly has issues, and they have been a favorable matchup for opposing offenses. Lofty projections of the Raiders’ potential are likely influencing this line, and, as gross as it may be, Houston is the side to back here.

The temperament of these two teams could not have been more stark heading into their bye weeks, and a deflating loss to the Chiefs may linger with the Raiders as the team’s 2022 expectations are quickly diminishing.

Bottom line: This is a lot of points for a bad team to be favored by, and oddsmakers may be late to adjust their perception of Las Vegas.
