NFL Week 8 First Touchdown Scorer Picks & Predictions

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles score the most points per first quarter in the NFL (7.9), but the Giants have scored nine points per first quarter in their last three games, which leads the NFL. The Eagles allow 5.6 points per first quarter and 6.3 in their previous three games.

Philadelphia typically poses a tough matchup to opposing running backs, but they are allowing one rushing touchdown per game to the position. Cam Skattebo scored three touchdowns in Week 6 against this Eagles team, and he should find the end zone again in this game as the Giants lean on their ground game.

Pick: Cam Skattebo (+625 via BetMGM)

Chicago Bears @ Baltimore Ravens

Kyle Monangai saw the most snaps he has had this season last week (45%), and he made the most of them. He ran 13 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, while catching two of his three targets for 13 yards.

Monangai should see more playing time moving forward alongside D'Andre Swift. Monangai had three red-zone carries last week, while Swift had seven opportunities. Monangai deserves more carries, and the shift to a run-focused offense should help his chances of finding the end zone more often. He is a super-value first touchdown scorer to bet on this week.

Pick: Kyle Monangai (+2200 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans

The Texans allow the second-most rushing touchdowns to running backs this season (1.17 per game). Christian McCaffrey scored twice last week and has scored in four consecutive weeks. He also had 31 touches against the Falcons last week, with 201 total yards.

McCaffrey is the engine of this offense and has dominated red-zone opportunities. McCaffrey has 30 attempts in the red zone and 11 targets, scoring six total touchdowns. Should the 49ers get the ball inside the 20-yard line, expect McCaffrey to see the ball a lot and punch it in early.

Pick: Christian McCaffrey (+425 via BetMGM)

Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos

The Cowboys have allowed 6.9 points per first quarter this season, but have improved in their last three games, allowing only 4.7. The Broncos only allow 4.4 points per first quarter, but 5.3 in their previous three games. Both teams are in the middle of the pack in points scored in the first quarter, but Dallas has scored 7.7 points per first quarter in the last three games.

The Broncos' defense has been stellar this season, but their one weakness (kind of) is against tight ends. They allow 3.86 receptions per game, which is among the best in the league, but they give up 52.71 receiving yards per game. Tight ends average 13.67 yards per reception against the Broncos, which is the most in the league. Jake Ferguson averages 8.3 targets per game, which leads the team over CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. He should be involved, especially in the red zone. Ferguson has 11 targets, nine receptions and five touchdowns inside the 20-yard line.

Pick: Jake Ferguson (+1400 via bet365)
