NFL Week 8 Pick'em Pool Predictions (2024)

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Both the Eagles and Bengals have won three of their last four games, but the Bengals are the more impressive team heading into this week. Their only loss in the last month was a three-point overtime defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in a game they should have won.

The Eagles finally beat a bad team by a lot, as they took down the New York Giants by a final score of 28-3. The defense held the Giants to just 119 yards of total offense, one of the most impressive performances of the season. However, that will be short-lived, as the Bengals are averaging 331.7 yards per game this season.

The Eagles are allowing just 189.2 passing yards per game this year, but they've had favourable matchups, and those averages are greatly skewed by allowing just 43.0 yards last week. The Bengals rank eighth in the league in passing yards per game. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase will dominate this matchup and pick up the home win.

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 8 brings us a rematch of one of the most exciting games of the season. Back in Week 5, the Falcons outlasted the Buccaneers in a 36-30 overtime thriller on Thursday Night Football. Kirk Cousins threw for over 500 yards in that game, while Baker Mayfield and the Bucs' offense played well enough to nearly escape Atlanta with a win.

But this week's game is going to be a disaster for the Bucs. Chris Godwin suffered a gruesome injury against the Ravens last week, and Mike Evans is dealing with a hamstring injury. Mayfield has been putting up phenomenal numbers, but with one of his two primary targets definitely out and the other questionable, it's hard to imagine him having much success.

The Falcons looked terrible against the Seahawks last week, but they're the healthier team this week, and they've already proven they can put up big numbers against this struggling Bucs' defense.

Pick: Atlanta Falcons

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels needs to play in this game for the Commanders to win. The rookie sensation suffered a rib injury in Washington's Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers. While initially the injury was thought to be severe, good news is coming out of Washington. Now, Daniels looks like he has a real chance to play this week.

The Bears are coming off their bye week, and Caleb Willimas has started to look more comfortable under center. He threw for a career-high four touchdowns in his last game, and he now has two 300-yard games to his name.

Williams gets the better matchup in this game, but Daniels is the better quarterback right now. Plus, while the Bears rank seventh against the pass this season, the Commanders rank 12th. The discrepancy between these two defenses isn't as large as it seems. Williams will throw at least one interception, as he's done in half of his games this year, and the Commanders will secure the home victory.

Pick: Washington Commanders

Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers

This is the upset of the week in the NFL. The last time we saw the Cowboys, they were decimated by the Lions. They didn't score a single touchdown, as the defense gave up 47 points. But the circumstances around playing the 49ers couldn't be much better for the Cowboys.

First, the Cowboys are coming off their much-needed bye week. Second, while this game is on the road in primetime, the 49ers are not healthy by any means. They just lost Brandon Aiyuk to a season-ending knee injury, Deebo Samuel has pneumonia, and Christian McCaffrey still isn't playing.

But the most important factor that gives the Cowboys an advantage on Sunday is the poor play of Brock Purdy. He threw three interceptions last week, and he's now thrown six in his last four games. The 49ers' injuries will send them to two games below .500 this week.

Pick: Dallas Cowboys
