NFL Week 9 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Underdog Bets (2025)

It was not a good time for underdogs last week, with only two recording wins. For the season, that means underdogs have gone 34-86-1, for a 28.3% win rate. To maintain that pace, we will need four to come out on top in Week 9.

The following are our top NFL Week 9 underdog bets that may pull off an upset.

Best NFL Week 9 Underdog Bets

Chicago Bears vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Both teams are coming off rough outings; Chicago lost to the Ravens sans Lamar Jackson, and the Bengals gave up a massive lead in the fourth quarter to a terrible team (Jets). So, someone is going to have to bounce back this weekend. But who will it be?

I've got to go with the Bengals. There is no excuse for losing to the Jets in any fashion, but I've got more faith in Joe Flacco getting the Bengals’ offense on track and just don't believe Caleb Williams is up to the task.

Of course, that fourth-quarter nosedive could mean the beginning of the end for the Bengals. However, the Bears’ offense has been inconsistent throughout the season, going from good to bad in a moment. Chicago will need to play a complete game to win, and I don't believe they will against the Bengals.

Pick: Bengals Moneyline (+140 at bet365)

Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans

This is an interesting game; Houston opened as a slight 1-5-point underdog, but the table has since flipped, and the Broncos are now 1.5-point underdogs. I can only assume it’s because the game is in Houston, the Texans’ defense is formidable and bettors believe in Houston's offense against a strong Denver defense.

I'm not so sure I can get on board with that.

Losing Patrick Surtain II hurts Denver’s defense, but the front seven is fine and will have C.J. Stroud on the run all night. Houston's defense will do the same to Bo Nix, but I expect the Denver offense will take advantage of a Stroud interception to pull ahead and notch the win.

Picks: Under 39.5 (-105 at DraftKings Sportsbook) & Broncos Moneyline (+110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

I just don't see why most of the world is jumping back on the Chiefs bandwagon because they dominated the Raiders and beat the Commanders. Everyone beats the Raiders, and the Commanders were without their quarterback.

Yes, the Chiefs are potentially more explosive, but they have not made the most of that potential for the last season and a half. I'm not going to proclaim they are back after two wins over poor teams. Buffalo is the more balanced and capable offense in this game. James Cook will cook, and Josh Allen will do enough in the passing game for the Bills to get the win.

Pick: Bills Moneyline (+115 at BetMGM)

Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys

I can't help but wonder why the Cowboys are favored in this matchup. Their defense is hot garbage, and the offense is unreliable and a bit predictable. The Cardinals have lost four games in a row, but they were competitive in every game, never losing by more than four points.

I've got more faith in Jacoby Brissett behind center than Kyler Murray, but Murray has an excellent track record at AT&T Stadium dating back to his high school days. Dak Prescott will rebound and turn this into a high-scoring game, but I don't think the Cowboys will get the one stop they'll need to win.

Pick: Cardinals Moneyline (+128 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
