NFL Week 9 Early Odds & Predictions: Vikings vs. Commanders

No team has played with fire more than Minnesota. They sit 6-1 on the season, 2nd in the NFC, but are only 18th in the league in DVOA. They’ll head to Washington to take on a surging Commanders team in week 9.

Since Taylor Heinicke took over for Carson Wentz, the Commanders have posted their two best offensive DVOA performances since week 1. This is probably more than just a blip as Heinicke has been an above-average backup QB since coming into the league. Against a Minnesota defense that has ranked 21st in defensive DVOA, the Commanders will be able to move the ball. If Heinicke can avoid turnovers they’ll have a shot to not only cover, but win.

On the other side, Washington has the 2nd ranked run defense DVOA, so this game might be in the hands of Kirk Cousins. I’ll take Washington.

Commanders +3.5, Lean u43.5
