Today’s Best NHL Bets

Pittsburgh Penguins (+152) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (-184) | O/U 6 (-138/+112)

The Penguins will play 24 hours after getting smashed by the Jets 4-1. The offense must have good games as the team deals with injuries at the top of their defensive line.

The Hurricanes went on an incredible run recently, winning 15 of 16, but since then they’ve dropped four of their last five. The blue line is top-notch, and they have one of the more efficient 5-on-5 offensive units.

The goalie situation is interesting with Frederik Andersen returning from injury. We’ll see if he gets the start over Pyotr Kochetkov and Antti Raanta, as each had some rough games.

The poor offensive outing against the Jets should have Pittsburgh worried about Carolina, their excellent home record, and a rest disadvantage.

Pick: Hurricanes 60 min ML (-122)

Toronto Maple Leafs (+130) vs. Boston Bruins (-156) | O/U 6 (-105/-115)

Could this Bruins team be one of the greatest in NHL history? They recently grabbed their 30th win, becoming the fastest team since the 1944-45 Bruins to accomplish this feat. They are dominant on both sides, with the second-best scoring offense and Linus Ullmark being the league’s best goalkeeper.

The Maple Leafs are on a nice run, winning four of their last five, with a +5 goal differential. The offense featuring the Hart Trophy winner Auston Matthews underachieved to start the year, but their star skaters are starting to play up to par. The goaltending has also continued to be excellent, allowing the third-fewest goals per game.

Matt Murray will be back behind the net, keeping the Leafs in contention in this game. Leafs getting a goal is one option, but I love the under more.

Pick: Under 6 (-115)

Buffalo Sabres (+114) vs. Nashville Predators (-137) | O/U 6.5 (-112/-108)

The Sabres are the best-scoring offense in the league, but the struggles behind the net have played a factor. With a better defense, the offense could have bad nights and still come away with a win. Unfortunately, they’ve allowed four goals in each of their three straight losses.

You can say the complete opposite about the Predators. They are average on offense, but Juuse Saros has been one of the best goalies this season, and his 20.3 goals saved above expected is good for third in the NHL.

Nashville doesn’t have the firepower to contend with Buffalo, and the blue line doesn’t have the talent to prevent them from getting opportunities near the net. Saros will see a lot of shots, and he won’t be able to stop them all.

Pick: Sabres ML (+114)
