Boston Bruins (-178) vs. Buffalo Sabres (+146) | O/U 6.5 (-124/-102)

Boston has the No. 1 seed in the east wrapped up, but they’re still on pace for that historic season with the most wins and points. They had a couple of shaky games but have rattled off two straight by outscoring their opponents 8-2.

Linus Ullmark got the start on Saturday against Minnesota, and so it’ll be Jeremy Swayman. The Boston backup could easily be a starter on most teams and is eighth with 14.9 Goals Saved Above Expected (Min. 17 starts).

After years of mediocrity, it finally looked like Buffalo was ready to break through and make a playoff run, but we spoke too soon.

The team has plummeted at the wrong time by grabbing just five points in their last ten games and are six points out of a playoff spot.

The Sabres got by this season on their offense and, at one point, were the top-scoring team in the league, but that has faded recently. Recently they’re scoring just 2.80 goals per game, while the consistently bad goaltending has allowed 4.6 goals.

Even with Buffalo’s rest advantage at home, the Bruins are far better. The offense could contend, but the goaltending cannot stop the NHL’s second-best offense.

Pick: Bruins 60 min. ML (-125)

New Jersey Devils (+106) vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (-128) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Devils are in the playoffs but certainly want to win the Metro, but that’s slowly slipping away as they’ve lost three straight. They’ll face a familiar foe in the Lightning, who gave them two of those losses.

Now the Lightning are coming in winners of three straight. The offense continues to play well, scoring 13 goals in those three games, but the defense has allowed seven.

Both teams are on the second leg of a back-to-back and both are starting their top goaltenders. The best idea is to side with the under in this one.

Pick: UNDER 6.5 (-110)

Columbus Blue Jackets (+260) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (-330) | O/U 6.5 (-112/-108)

Every game is crucial for the Golden Knights, who are tied with the Kings atop the Pacific with the Oilers just four points behind. Vegas is playing phenomenally at the moment, going 7-3-0 in their last ten, but LA and Edmonton have been able to keep up.

They can win in what should be an easy matchup. The Blue Jackets will likely finish with the fewest points in the league and are in a prime position in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes. They tried to build something by bringing in Johnny Gaudreau after his 115 points season in Calgary, but it hasn’t worked out, and the pieces they surrounded him with were underperforming.

Vegas needs to keep winning, and they should be against a team that is second to last on both sides of the puck.

Pick: Golden Knights -1.5 (-134)
