Thursday’s Best NHL GIFT Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Florida Panthers vs. Washington Capitals

The Panthers will not repeat as President Trophy winners, but they look like a team that could make a playoff push.

The offense featuring Matthew Tkachuk, Carter Verhaeghe, and Sam Reinhart has been great and is second-best in Expected Goal Percentage.

The goaltending had been their weak point, but Sergei Bobrovsky is playing better by winning four of his last five and is allowing 1.40 goals per game in that span.

The Capitals have taken a significant dip over the last few weeks and, right now, are barely hanging onto that final Wild Card spot in the east.

The injuries continued, with Tom Wilson being put on Injured Reserve. He joins Connor Brown, John Carlson, and Karl Hagelin, who are not likely to return to the lineup anytime soon. Alex Ovechkin will also miss time after the death of his father.

The Panthers have seen the GIFT go over in three of their last five, and the Capitals in seven of their last ten. I’m confident Florida will help push this over.

Pick: OVER 0.5 Goals (-160)

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Seattle Kraken

The Kraken have struggled by going 4-6-1 in their last 11. The standings are getting tight in the Pacific, and they are now tied with the surging Oilers for third place. They have faced some of the better defensive teams in the league recently and did not play well, including being shut out by the Islanders.

They will face the Flyers, who have been their only win in the last five games. Philadelphia’s offense is 25th in Expected Goals, and besides Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes, there isn’t much talent.

Carter Hart has been incredible in the crease with 18.5 Goals Saved Above, and he keeps them in contention most of their games.

In the last matchup between these teams, the scoring started early, with the first goal in under three minutes. The Kraken have gone over the GIFT in 69% of their home games, which is fourth-best.

Pick: OVER 0.5 (-145)

San Jose Sharks vs. Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights needed that break last weekend to recharge, and they’ve come out of the gate, winning three straight.

They’ve been very successful on both sides of the puck, scoring 17 goals and allowing just three in that time. On offense, the top guys like Chandler Stephenson and Jack Eichel are playing well, but they’ve been getting production throughout each line.

Unfortunately, goalie Logan Thompson will miss some time with a lower-body injury that he suffered against Minnesota. Adin Hill will step in as the starter and is 11-5-1 , allowing 2.58 goals this year.

San Jose isn’t winning many games, but there’s a lot to be optimistic about.

They’ve been getting excellent contributions on offense, with Timo Meier’s 31 goals and Erik Karlsson turning back the clock with 55 assists.

The Sharks have third best GIFT record, and it’s hit in seven of their last 10. Vegas is also in the top half of the league and hit the GIFT in eight of their last 10.

Pick: Over 0.5 (-145)
