Thursday’s Best NHL GIFT Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Seattle Kraken vs. Boston Bruins

The Bruins Are currently on pace to narrowly edge out the 1976-77 Canadiens for the most points in a season.

David Pasternak continues to have an outstanding season, and if it weren’t for Connor McDavid, he’d be a strong Hart Trophy candidate. The defense continues to be one of the best in the league, allowing 2.05 goals, and Linus Ullmark will take the Vezina Trophy.

The Kraken has struggled since the All-Star break going 3-4-1. The offense has noticeably dipped without Andre Burakovsky in the lineup. Over the last couple of weeks, they’re scoring nearly one point less since his absence.

Martin Jones had a great start to the season but has struggled recently by allowing 17 goals in his last four games. Dave Hakstol has gone with the hot hand, and Philipp Grubauer is getting more starts. He’s been great, allowing two goals or fewer in seven of his last eight.

This will be a more defensive battle than some might think. The Bruins have missed the GIFT in seven of their last ten and the Kraken in three of their previous five.

Pick: UNDER 0.5 (+120)

Buffalo Sabres vs. Tampa Bay Lighting

With Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and Alex Tuch on the top line, this is one of the best in the league. They aren’t one of those these teams whose deeper lines don’t contribute — Dylan Cozens has three goals in his last five games, and Casey Mittelstadt and Peyton Krebs have a pair each.

The goaltending continues to be their weakest point, and they are 25th in Goals Against Above Expected.

The Lightning has the same offensive makeup as the Sabres. The top line of Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Brandon Hagel is top-notch, each with over 20 goals this season. They’ve also been getting production throughout the lineup — Steven Stamkos could play on a lot of the team’s first line, and Anthony Cirelli and Corey Perry have played well recently with four goals in their previous five.

The Sabres have smashed the GIFT hitting eight of their last ten, and the Bolts have the sixth-best GIFT percentage.

Pick: OVER 0.5 (-180)

Vancouver Canucks vs. St. Louis Blues

The Blues have been tough to figure out with how inconsistent they’ve been. They became aware it was time to offload some assets and recently traded Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O’Reilly. This could be why they’ve only scored four goals in the last three games.

It also doesn’t help that Jordan Binnington has been terrible this year and has allowed the most goals of his career, most losses, and a -6.3 Goals Saved Above Expected.

St. Louis and Vancouver are very similar teams. Even after the trade of Bo Harvat, the offense is playing well, scoring 3.75 goals per game. The return has been good because Anthony Beauvillier is getting an increase in minutes and has seven points in eight games.

The Canucks have the best GIFT record in the league and have hit an astonishing 93% on the road.

Pick: OVER 0.5 (-190)
