Monday's NHL Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Tampa Bay Lightning (+124) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-148) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)
The Lightning started the season by winning their first three games. There's a reason why this team has appeared in a few Stanley Cup Finals in the past few years.
They have a great forward unit, and the group is performing as well as usual, scoring four goals in all four games. It's all led by Nikita Kucherov, who had the most points last season but didn't win the Hart Trophy. He already has nine points (seven goals and two assists). This is from someone who had 100 assists last season.
They didn't have Andrei Vasilevskiy to start the season last year. He started slow when he did come back midway through the season. He's looking like his old self with a 1.67 GAA and a .901 save percentage this season.
The Maple Leafs also have a group of offensive players. William Nylander and Bobby McCann each have three goals. Auston Matthews and John Tavares have two. Like the Bolts, this team plays fast and wants to get the puck to the opponent's zone with a minimal amount of passes. Like Tampa Bay, they will be as efficient as possible.
Anthony Stolarz has been great to start this season and will play more than he ever has as a backup. He has a 1.79 GAA and a .937 save percentage in four games.
This is a really solid goalie matchup, but each offense has been phenomenal. We mentioned the Bolts have scored four goals in each game and the Leafs have scored four or more in three out of four games. Let’s go with the over.
Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-110)
