Seattle Kraken (+164) at Dallas Stars (-155) | O/U 6 (+100/-120)

The Stars looked like the team to beat during the regular season last year and in the playoffs. They have the offensive pieces even with Joe Pavelski retiring; Jason Robertson had 80 points last season, and Roope Hintz and Wyatt Johnson had 30+ goals.

They also have the support of one of the best goalies in the league. Jake Oettinger is coming off another great season where he allowed 2.72 goals per game and a .905 save percentage.

Last year, the Kraken had one of the best defenses in the league and allowed the sixth-fewest goals, but they couldn't get any offensive support as their 2.61 goals scored per game was 29th. They hope bringing in Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour, each with a championship, can help.

Both teams played Saturday, meaning there’s no rest advantage, so you have to lean toward the Stars getting the win.

Pick: Stars 60-Minute Moneyline (-130)

Calgary Flames (+225) at Edmonton Oilers (-278) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Oilers came so close to hoisting Lord Stanley last season, but with the core group of players remaining, they will be a title contender again.

Last year's fourth-best offense did not start the season the way they wanted, as Winnipeg blanked them 6-0. It's difficult to think this was more than just tough luck; they had 30 shots on goal and dominated puck possession. However, all of that can play in your favor and you still can get shut out when you're facing Connor Hellebuyck.

The Flames had the opposite problem in their season debut. They struggled early but scored three goals in the third period and one more in overtime to win over Vancouver.

There have been many changes to this team, and they could be in a rebuilding period as they let many veterans go and will instead see what some of these younger players can do. You hope Jonathan Huberdeau can have a bounce-back season and Nazem Kadri plays well, and they may be a surprise.

The Oilers will grab some goals and so will the Flames as these teams always tend to play higher-scoring games against each other.

Pick: Over 6.5 Total Goals (-110)
