Here are our three favorite NHL picks for Sunday’s slate.

New York Islanders (+165) vs. Florida Panthers (-205) o/u 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Islanders’ offense has started the season off well with 3.50 goals per game, and they’re getting contributions even on the deeper lines. While the defense started the season playing well, they’ve struggled the last two games allowing nine goals and 69 shots.

The Panthers haven’t started the season like they were last year’s best offense, but they certainly have the talent to have a big game. They’ve been able to attack the zone and get their shots, but they’re just not getting through the net.

Florida has been able to attack their opponent’s zone, and they’ll be going against a team that has been getting out-shot over the last couple of games. The Panthers are the more rested team, and I like them in this spot.

Pick: Panthers -1.5 (+125)

San Jose Sharks (+120) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (-145) o/u 6.5 (-105/-125)

The Flyers have lacked depth throughout the year due to injuries, but that hasn’t hurt them with a fantastic 4-1-0 start. A stellar defense has been a factor, as they’re allowing the fourth fewest goals per game and are sixth in goals against above expected.

San Jose will likely end the season as one of the worst teams. Offensively they’ve struggled, scoring just 1.83 goals per game.

The Sharks got a road win against the Rangers, so you know they can catch a  team sleeping. The Flyers won’t have Corey Hart behind the net in back-to-back games, and Felix Sandstrom has not been as good. San Jose still can’t score, but they’ve done well defensively, and I’m taking the under.

Pick: Under 6.5 (-125)

Columbus Blue Jackets (+185) vs. New York Rangers (-225) o/u 6.5 (-120/+100)

The expectations of the Blue Jackets were high going into the season as they improved their roster, but they’ve struggled to start the season. The big pickup, Johnny Gaudreau, is playing well with four goals, and the first two lines have contributed on offense, but their depth has struggled. The defense has been the big reason for their early struggles as they sit 19th in goals against and 29th in goals against above suspected.

Not a good time to see a Rangers offense that is playing well. They’re getting contributions up and down the lineup scoring 3.80 goals per game, with Mika Zibanejad having the third most points.

The Rangers’ defense has also been struggling, and this is an excellent spot to take the over.

Pick: Over 6.5 (-120)
