NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (10/13)
We’re getting a full 16-game NHL slate on Tuesday night, so there’s plenty of action to target for tonight’s NHL best bets.
My previous column last Tuesday went 0-3. Now, we’re in a bounce-back spot. I’ve found three of my favorite matchups to target on the board tonight.
Notable matchups I’m targeting include the Devils versus Red Wings, Blues versus Senators and Bruins versus Sharks. I’ve got two Moneyline wagers and a goal total, so let’s aim for a profitable outing, preferably with a 3-0 finish to erase last Tuesday’s losses.

Tuesday’s NHL Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New Jersey Devils vs. Detroit Red Wings
Two Eastern Conference teams looking to build momentum will go head-to-head in Detroit tonight. The Devils are 0-1 straight up (SU) on the road in 2026, while the Red Wings are 1-4 SU, with goaltender John Gibson allowing three or more goals in three straight starts.
Gibson is expected in the crease tonight. Jake Allen is slated to be in net for the Devils. He has held two of his last three opponents to two or fewer goals.
The Red Wings have lost six out of the last seven games as home betting favorites against Metropolitan Division opponents. The Devils are 2-1 SU in their last three head-to-head matchups against Detroit.
With a better goaltender and elite scoring talent led by Jack Hughes, let’s grab the Devils as a slight underdog. Bet the Devils on the Moneyline at -105 odds.
Pick: Devils Moneyline (-105)
St. Louis Blues vs. Ottawa Senators
Ottawa has had a strong start to its season, entering tonight’s home tilt with a 5-1 record. St. Louis has been mediocre, going 2-2-1, and has scored more than two goals just twice.
The Senators’ goaltending has been elite. Tonight, it’s expected to be backup goaltender Samuel Ersson in net, who is 0-1 and has allowed five goals in four periods. His presence creates value for the Senators on home ice.
Ottawa has won outright as a betting favorite in the second game of a back-to-back in three straight attempts. This extends to 10 games as a home favorite in this spot.
Joel Hofer is the expected goaltender for the Blues. He’s allowed five goals in three starts, including a shutout against the Stars. The Senators’ scoring depth is legit, led by Tim Stützle and Drake Batherson, who have eight combined goals.
Let’s back the better offense on home ice, despite a potent goaltending deficit. Bet on the Senators Moneyline at -115 odds as short home favorites.
Pick: Senators Moneyline (-115)
Boston Bruins vs. San Jose Sharks
A late-night puck drop on the West Coast pits the Bruins against the Sharks. Both teams enter this contest with winning records. Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman is expected to start, bringing a 1.79 GAA.
Yaroslav Askarov is also expected to be the Sharks’ netminder tonight, sitting with a 3.71 GAA and a 2-2 record. Askarov has allowed three or more goals in all four starts this season.
Despite a potentially leaky goaltender in San Jose’s crease, the Sharks have held two straight opponents to five combined goals. Boston’s been surging, although five goals against a struggling Flyers team in their last outing doesn’t signal legitimacy.
We’ve seen Boston held to one goal against the Wild and Senators this season. In this head-to-head matchup, six straight matchups have finished under the goal total line when played at night.
The Sharks’ offense hasn’t scored more than three goals in three straight games. Swayman’s going to be a brick wall, so we’re banking on his top form to limit San Jose’s offense.
Let’s close out our Tuesday NHL best bets with the under on the Bruins-Sharks game.
Pick: Under 6.5 Goals (-130)
