Top NHL Odds & Picks: Wednesday (Flyers vs. Capitals)
Tuesday's Frozen Frenzy in the NHL is bookended by a pair of one-game schedules, and tonight's matchup features a Metropolitan Division tilt between the Flyers and Capitals. This is the second leg of a home-and-home series, and the Caps cruised to a 4-1 victory in Philly last night. Below I've listed the odds for tonight's game, as well as my favorite bet for the divisional clash.
Wednesday's NHL Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook)
Philadelphia Flyers (+115) vs. Washington Capitals (-135) | 6.0 (-110/-110)
Last night's 4-1 defeat marked the Flyers' fifth consecutive loss, pushing them to 1-4-1 on the young season. As for the Caps, it was their fourth straight victory, improving their record to 4-1-0 on the year. This contest is scheduled for 7:30 ET from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
One of my favorite bets that I posted last night was the under 6.0 goals in this game. I'm not overthinking it, I'm coming right back to the under 6.0 goals at -110 tonight. For the Flyers, their issue has been the offense. Over their current five-game slide, they're averaging only 2.2 goals per game. On the season as a whole, Philly is scoring just 2.3 goals per contest, which is 29th in the league.
In terms of special teams play, both clubs have been excellent on the penalty kill. For the Capitals, they notched two short-handed goals last night. Assuming Coach John Tortorella can clean that up tonight, we should be on track for another under. Heading into last night, the teams were tied for eighth in the NHL on the PK, killing off 85.71% of their penalties. Both units went a combined 0-8 on the man-advantage last night. I'll finish this analysis off with nearly a word-by-word sentence that I wrote in yesterday's preview. Neither of these teams has a lot of top-end offensive talent, so goals should once again be tough to come by in this one. Give me the under in the nation's capital.
Bet: Under 6.0 Goals (-110)
