NHL Parlay Picks: Week 17 (2020)

NHL All-Star Weekend has come and gone, and teams are back to battle. New York Islanders’ forward Matt Barzal took the crown from Oilers’ Connor McDavid in the fastest skating competition. McDavid had previously held the title as the fastest skater in the league for the last three seasons. St.Louis Blues’ netminder Jordan Binnington took home the goalie challenge on home ice, while Patrick Kane won the shooting stars competition. In the hardest shot contest, Shea Weber clocked an impressive 106.5 mph on the radar gun for the win.

Bests Bets of the Weekend

Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs  (Saturday, 7 PM)
After a minor slump prior to the all-star break, the Maple Leafs have righted the ship. They have two big road wins since the break, including an impressive 5-3 victory in Dallas on Wednesday. Defenceman Jake Muzzin returned to the lineup, adding some much-needed stability to the back end. Ever since Sheldon Keefe has taken over coaching duties, the Maple Leafs are first in goals per game. They get a favorable matchup against the Senators who are bottom-five in goals allowed per game, and shots allowed per game. Expect the Leafs to pick up two points on home ice.
The Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs, Regulation

Florida Panthers at Montreal Canadians (Saturday, 2 PM)
The Florida Panthers are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now. Their offense has carried them to a six-game win streak heading into Saturday. In their last seven games, the over has hit in six of them. I expect this trend to continue in their first game back since the all-star break. The Panthers were victorious against the Canadians in a goal-filled affair on December 29th, beating them 6-5.
The Pick: Over 6.5 goals

Colorado Avalanche at Philadelphia Flyers (Saturday, 9 PM)
Coming off a three-game win streak prior to the all-star break, the Avalanche are healthy and playing great hockey. They will be catching the Flyers on a back-to-back on Saturday night and should have the fresher legs. So far this year the Avalanche has been one of the better road teams with a 14-8-2 record. I expect Colorado to go into Philadelphia and steal two points.
The Pick: Colorado Avalanche, Moneyline

Vancouver Canucks at New York Islanders (Saturday, 1 PM)
This Saturday afternoon matchup features the team with the third-highest under percentage in the league, the Islanders. A very defensively sound team, the Islanders do not give up many high-quality scoring chances. They will face a Canucks team who have gone under in their last five of six games. Both goalies of each respective team have better than a .915 save percentage. I expect a tight battle in this one.
The Pick: Under 6.5 goals
