NHL Parlay Picks: Week 3 (2019)
The 2019-20 NHL Season is now over two weeks old, and it has come with many storylines. We have seen the Oilers, Sabres, Hurricanes, and Avalanche carry on with their hot starts. The dynamic duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are number one and number two in league scoring and have the Oilers atop the Western Conference. Another team off to a surging start is the Colorado Avalanche. They are a young, fast team that has yet to lose in regulation (5-0-1) and look like a force early on.
While some teams have certainly surprised us early on, it has been a disastrous start for others. Fresh off of winning the draft lottery and taking phenom Jack Hughes in the offseason, the New Jersey Devils find themselves without a win. There is simply too much talent on this roster, and they will surely right the ship shortly. Many experts’ picks to be a strong contender this year, the Dallas Stars have struggled early on. They find themselves second last in the Conference with one lone win. I expect positive regression coming for this Stars’ team, and things should start to click after a tough opening schedule.
Bests Bets of the Weekend
Vegas Golden Knights at Pittsburgh Penguins (Saturday, 7 PM)
The Pittsburgh Penguins are very banged up right now. Evgeni Malkin, Alex Galchenyuk, Nick Bjugstad, and Bryan Rust are all nursing injuries at the moment. Despite these losses, Sidney Crosby and the Penguins have played well recently. This can only last so long, as this will be their third game in four nights, and they will no doubt be fatigued. Their backup goaltender Tristan Jarry will likely get the start, which could be good news for a very talented Golden Knights roster.
The Pick: Vegas Golden Knights, Moneyline (-105 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Colorado Avalanche at Tampa Bay Lightning (Saturday, 7 PM)
This will be a very exciting game to watch, featuring two excellent hockey clubs. The advantage goes to the Lightning in this one, as the Avalanche will be playing on back-to-back nights, and it will be their third game in four nights. The Lightning will be rested and are at home, so this is a nice scheduling spot for them, and they should be given generous odds due to the success of Colorado so far this season.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning, Moneyline (-165 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Ottawa Senators at Arizona Coyotes (Saturday, 7 PM)
The Arizona Coyotes are beginning to play some good hockey. They are a very defensively sound hockey club, and they have gotten exceptional goaltending from Darcy Kuemper. Through four starts, Kuemper has posted a .955 save percentage and a 1.52 goals-against-average. The Coyotes have allowed the fewest goals so far this year, so the Senators have their work cut out for them. Ottawa has put up a lackluster 12 goals through five games, and they will be hard-pressed against the ‘Yotes Saturday.
The Pick: Arizona Coyotes, Moneyline (-186 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Florida Panthers at Nashville Predators (Saturday, 8 PM)
The Predators are off to solid 3-1 start at home and will be catching the Panthers as they play back-to-back games. This is a tough spot for Florida to be in, as they were only 16-19-6 on the road last season. “Smashville†is one of the toughest places to play in, and the Preds should be able to put up a few goals against a tired Florida team. Nashville has scored the second-most goals in the league this year (28), and their starting goalie Pekka Rinne is off to a 4-0-0 start.
