NHL Playoffs Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (Golden Knights vs. Stars)

This has to be one of the most entertaining postseasons that I can remember in a long time! The conference finals haven't been a letdown either, as all five games have been decided by just one goal, including four overtime tilts.

The action resumes tonight as the Vegas Golden Knights (2-0) look to take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Dallas Stars (0-2). Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET from American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.

Let's dive into my top two bets on the side and total for tonight's Western Conference showdown.

NHL '22-'23 Record: 29-53 (-26.50 Units)

Vegas Golden Knights (+120) vs. Dallas Stars (-140) | 5.5 (-115/-105)

Despite it being a 2-0 edge in favor of the Golden Knights, this has been an extremely close series. Game one ended 4-3 in overtime, and Vegas followed up with a 3-2 overtime victory in game two.

This is about as must-win of a game that you can get for the Stars, so I'll back them tonight. Their backs are already against the wall, and they haven't even gotten to play on their home ice yet in this series. Dallas was solid at home this season, going 22-10-9 at American Airlines Center.

Specifically, Jake Oettinger went 20-5-8 at home this year, posting four shutouts. I think we're in for a big-time performance from the American-born netminder tonight. He's proven that he can step up in big moments, and there’s no brighter spotlight than tonight's game. Let's ride with the Stars on the moneyline.

Best Side Bet: Dallas Stars Moneyline (-140)

I'm also taking the under in tonight's Western Conference Final game. The under has cashed in two consecutive games for the Stars when they're coming off of a loss. That includes game two of this series (3-2) and game seven of their series with the Kraken last week (2-1). I anticipate the vibes being similar to a game seven tonight, where we'll see excellent defense and relatively conservative play from both sides.

We've also yet to see a ton of impact from special teams in this series. The two sides are a combined 2-8 (25%) on the man-advantage so far. Vegas knows that the Stars have excelled on the power play this postseason (30.4%), so they'll likely avoid staying out of the box as much as possible. Both teams were able to accomplish that this regular season as the Golden Knights took the least amount of penalty minutes (589) while the Stars were sixth (637).

All things considered, I think we'll see another 3-2 game tonight in Texas, and the score will stay under the total for a second straight game.

Best Total Bet: Under 5.5 (-105)
