(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Florida Panthers (-130) at Toronto Maple Leafs (+110) | O/U 5.5 (-115/-105)
The Panthers had everything lined up to appear in their third straight Eastern Conference Final; they had a three-game winning streak and were playing at home. Unfortunately, they were shut out in Game 6 and now have to play a Game 7.
The Panthers played a great game, out-shooting Toronto 22-17 and out-hitting them 58-35. However, the Maple Leafs’ defense played very well, blocking 31 shots and being perfect on the penalty kill, allowing only one shot on goal in four power-play chances.
It was another instance where the Maple Leafs' opposition dominated the scoring opportunities, with Florida finishing with a 65.58% Corsi rate and a 51.02% expected goal share. This has been a trend throughout the playoffs, but Toronto has capitalized on the limited chances they've been given. Auston Matthews has finally broken the slump and scored for the first time in this series.
The Panthers need to stay aggressive on both ends of the ice. The defense has been physical, and they have been breaking up their rhythm, which has prevented them from moving the puck and getting scoring opportunities. While Joseph Woll is coming off saving all 22 shots he faced, he's struggled throughout this series. The Panthers should make adjustments and move on.
Pick: Panthers Moneyline (-130)
