Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes
- Leg 1: Capitals +1.5 (-164)
- Leg 2: Under 5.5 Goals (-110)
- Leg 3: Logan Stankoven Anytime Goal Scorer (+320)
This Eastern Conference best-of-seven series shifts to the Lenovo Center in Raleigh for Game 3, with the series tied 1-1. Washington went 25-13-3 on the road during the regular season, while Carolina went 31-9-1 at home.
In these playoffs, the Capitals are 1-1 in two road contests, losing their only game of the Montreal series in Game 3. Will lightning strike twice here?
The Hurricanes are a perfect 3-0 on home ice in these playoffs, including a Game 5 victory over the New Jersey Devils in double overtime behind backup goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov. He was in there because Frederik Andersen suffered an upper-body injury in Game 4 of that series.
Andersen has since returned, and he has been solid in this series. He has allowed just three goals on 34 shots in two starts in this series, winning 2-1 in overtime in Game 1 in Washington, while falling 3-1 in Game 2.
Logan Thompson has locked it down for the Caps, too, as the 28-year-old Calgary native has stopped 58 out of 61 shots in the series, good for an insane .951 SV% in two starts. That’s the kind of backstop play that can steal a series. We’ll see if he remains as locked in while playing in hostile territory.
We’ll roll with the Capitals on the puck line, as backing the home side doesn’t present you with a lot of value. You have to risk nearly two times your potential return, and there is no value there. The Hurricanes have produced three total goals of offense, so even if Carolina wins, it should be a low-scoring game, with Washington right there with a chance at the end. And, with the low offensive output on both sides, we’ll go low on the total.
As far as player props, Logan Stankoven sticks out as an anytime goal scorer (+320) for the chance to more than triple up your return. As a standalone wager, that’s worth pursuing, but as part of this multi-leg SGP, back Stankoven to spruce up your parlay. If the under makes you nervous, playing the Caps +1.5 and Stankoven anytime goal scorer still pays out +664.

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers
- Leg 1: Golden Knights +1.5 (-235)
- Leg 2: Over 6.5 Goals (-124)
- Leg 3: Victor Olofsson Anytime Goal Scorer (+340)
Like the Caps and Canes, we get a shift of venue in the Western Conference, too. The Golden Knights and Oilers move north, and Vegas hopes to find some success on the road. The Golden Knights suffered a 4-2 loss at home in Game 1 and were tripped up 5-4 in overtime in Game 2.
Edmonton fell into a 0-2 series hole against the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, and head coach Kris Knoblauch switched gears, going from Stuart Skinner to Calvin Pickard in net. The Oilers have won six consecutive games since, although the offense has picked up the pace, too. Edmonton has 29 goals in the past six games, providing 4.8 goals per game of offensive support for Pickard.
For the Oilers, the over has cashed at a 6-2 clip in eight postseason games, including 1-1 in this series. The over has hit at a 5-3 clip in eight playoff outings for the Golden Knights, with the offense scoring at least two goals in all postseason contests so far. Vegas has allowed at least two goals in all eight playoff games, too, so it doesn’t take much to get to the over.
At home, Edmonton has cashed the over in all three postseason games. It averaged 5.7 goals per game in three home outings against the Kings, while coughing up 3.8 goals per game. While Pickard has been solid, the Oilers have still allowed at least three goals in six out of eight postseason performances.
It’s all about the over, especially at Rogers Place. And, we’ll back Vegas to keep up the road playoff win trend in this series. However, let’s play it safe and take Vegas on the puck line for a little bit of insurance.
Looking at player props, Victor Olofsson had it going on during power-play opportunities, scoring twice on the man advantage in Game 2. Like Stankoven above, you can more than triple up your return for an anytime goal scorer prop. Including it even in the most conservative of SGPs can multiply things substantially.
Parlay Odds: +603
