Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators

We might have seen the best effort from the Senators in Game 2 as they sent the game to overtime, but Max Domi proved to be the hero with the overtime goal to help the Maple Leafs gain the 2-0 lead.

Although Toronto is up 2-0, they haven't been the more dominant team. Ottawa has controlled the puck and has better scoring opportunities thanks to a 54.22% expected goal share and 60.91% Corsi rate.

We're seeing how important picking up goalie Anthony Stolarz has been to the Leafs. His 1.95 goals allowed and .934 save percentage are third in the playoffs. On the other hand, it might be time to consider replacing Linus Ullmark. This is his third straight loss to Toronto in the playoffs, allowing 12 goals in those games.

Winnipeg Jets at St. Louis Blues

Going into the series between Winnipeg and St. Louis, the question was, would the best team or the hotter team prevail? The answer so far has been Winnipeg, as they hold the 2-0 lead.

Scoring chances have been at a premium in this series, especially for the Blues, who have had just 39 shots on goal in the two games. The biggest difference has been the high-danger opportunities, with the Blues having only eight compared to the Jets’ 25.

It was expected St. Louis would not have those chances, with Winnipeg allowing the third-fewest high-danger shots per game (3.04). We could see this game trend the same way as in Game 2, especially with it being a possible low-scoring affair.

Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning

Game 1 was all Panthers, as they held the lead for most of it and ran away with the game in the second period for the 6-2 win. The biggest news for Florida was the return of Matthew Tkachuk, who missed two months with an injury. He immediately made his presence known and finished the game with two goals and an assist. It will be difficult to knock off the defending champs with that production from Tkachuk, especially because they are a more defensive-minded team.

Florida had only had 17 shots, but they made them count, as it was one of the worst playoff performances of Andrei Vasilevskiy's career. This game featured the fewest shots on goal he's ever seen when on the ice for at least 30 minutes (16) in the playoffs. It was also the first time out of 24 other instances that he allowed more than four goals on fewer than 20 shot attempts.

Vasilevskiy is a pro who has not allowed an opponent to score four or more goals in back-to-back games since 2016. This contest will be more competitive than Game 2.
