NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (5/9)

Two crucial Game 4s, with each series being 2-1. This game can change the course of the series for either team to all but end it for one or make the series into a best-of-three.

New Jersey Devils at Carolina Hurricanes

  • Leg 1: Carolina Hurricanes Moneyline (+135)
  • Leg 2: UNDER 6.5 Total Goals (-170)
  • Leg 3: Carolina Hurricanes OVER 1.5 Total Goals (-110)

Are we seeing deja vu? The Devils once again faced a 2-0 hole, came strong in Game 3, and got a big win. They didn't shut down the Hurricanes' offense, they just out-scored them and by a lot. New Jersey is a high-speed offense, and they were finally able to out-skate the Hurricanes into their offensive zone, generated opportunities in the crease, and they frequently got their own rebounds.

Did Vitek Vanecek have an excellent performance? Not by a long shot, but when you give your goalie a 4-0 lead early in the second period, you don't need to be sharp as a tack.

Frederik Andersen had an awful performance for the Canes and was pulled after allowing four goals just under a minute into the second period. The good news is that Antti Raanta participated in Monday's skate, so there's optimism that he could be back between the pipes tonight.

This is also familiar territory for the Hurricanes, as they were up 2-0 on the Islanders and lost 5-1 in Game 3 on the road. Carolina responded by winning the next two games and moving on to the second round. I'll take this as a hiccup, and Canes will bounce back.

Dallas Stars at Seattle Kraken

  • Leg 1: Dallas Stars  Moneyline (-150)
  • Leg 2: OVER 5.5 Total Goals (-120)
  • Leg 3: Jason Robertson Anytime Goal (+115)

The stars of this Dallas team have not shown up in this series. Roope Hintz has just one assist in this series, while Jason Robertson has a goose egg so far. If they want to keep up with Seattle's deep lineup, these guys need to do something.

Someone else that has been MIA in this series is Jake Oettinger. He was one of the top goaltenders during the regular season, but he has two losses and a .857 save percentage. If the offense continues to struggle, they will need Oettinger to carry this team.

It's not that the Kraken has been overly dominating on offense, they only have a 47.4% expected goal rate, but they have been getting contributions from everyone. They have ten guys with multiple goals and five with three or more. That makes it difficult for any offense when every shift has a guy who can light the lamp.

Dallas has been able to make comebacks a couple of times in the playoffs, and I expect that to happen again. Oettinger can come out and have a brilliant game, while I don’t think the Kraken can continue to contain Robertson and Hintz.
