New Jersey Devils vs. Washington Capitals

  • Leg 1: Devils ML (-145)
  • Leg 2: UNDER 6.5 Total Goals (-110)
  • Leg 3: UNDER 1.5 Total First Period Goals (+110)

The Devils come into this game, winning seven of their last 11 as they try to keep pace for first in the Metro. The top line has been incredible, with Nico Hischier having six goals in his previous ten games and Dawson Mercer having ten.

Being a two-way team will help them through this tough Eastern Conference. Vitek Vanecek has been outstanding between the pipes, going 27-7-3 and allowing 2.55 goals per game.

The Capitals aren’t mathematically out of the playoffs, but I don’t see them making the push to get in.

They haven’t been a bad team but dealing with injuries all season saw them dip out of contention.

Darcy Kuemper and Vanecek will be an exciting goaltending matchup, and Washington is giving up fewer shots than New Jersey. This will be a tight game, but I like the Devils coming away with a win.

New York Islander vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

  • Leg 1: Islanders ML (+115)
  • Leg 2: OVER 5.5 Total Goals (-140)
  • Leg 3: OVER 2.5 Total Islanders Goals (-145)

These teams are separated by one game in the first and second Wild Card spots, so this game is important.

The Islanders’ offense got the boost they needed when they added Bo Harvat to the forward unit. He’s been a great addition with five goals and three assists in 15 games.

Defense and goaltending are their specialties, with Ilya Sorokin or Semyon Varlamov allowing the fifth fewest goals and the second-best save percentage this year. They must play physically upfront to stop a finesse offense like Pittsburgh.

The Penguins are coming off a history-making win.  Being down 4-0 against Columbus, they came away with a 5-4 overtime win and their largest comeback in team history.

The offense is capable of those feats, being tenth in expected goals, but they must be with how much the defense struggles. Tristan Jarry has struggled since his return from Injured Reserve and the last game against Columbus was the second time he’d been pulled recently.

The Islanders have been playing much better offensively and will get through that Pittsburgh blue line and defensively hold up to get an important win.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Carolina Hurricanes

  • Leg 1: Hurricanes -1.5 (-140)
  • Leg 2: UNDER 2.5 Total Flyers Goals (-165)
  • Leg 3: OVER 6.5 Total Goals (+100)

The Bruins’ dominance gets all the headlines, but the Hurricanes are a team you need to pay attention to. They are 15–3-1, and these haven’t been tight games because 11 of those wins are by multiple goals.

This roster runs deep with 11 double-digit goal scorers, and they lead the league in Expected Goals Percentage.

This is also one of the more dominant defenses overall. Good luck getting through a blue line allowing 26.0 shots per game, with Antti Raanta and Frederik Andersen allowing the second-fewest goals this season.

John Tortortella’s first year in Philly is not going well, but there were low expectations to begin with.

The offense collectively has been abysmal, but you have Travis Konecy, Kevin Hayes, and Scott Laughton all setting career highs and could be good pieces to build on.

The defense has carried them all year by being ninth in Goals Against Above Expected and Carter Hart having 9.9 Goals Saved Above Expected.

Canes should easily get two points tonight.

Parlay Odds: +451
