NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Saturday (1/25)

We have 13 total games on the National Hockey League (NHL) schedule. There are three afternoon games, so we’ll avoid those games. However, we’ll focus on the evening slate, looking to piece together a couple of strong same-game parlay (SGP) opportunities. The New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens meet at 7:00 p.m. ET on NHL Network.

Below, we feature solid NHL same-game parlays (SGPs) for tonight’s matchups. Perhaps you can mix and match with some NBA contests or games from yet another full weekend of college hoops.

These parlays come with +400 odds or higher. Let’s get started.

New Jersey Devils at Montreal Canadiens

The Devils (27-17-6) meet the Canadiens (24-20-4) at Bell Centre in Montreal at 7:00 p.m. ET. It’s the second meeting of the season between these teams and the first meeting north of the border.

On November 7th, the Devils picked up a 5-3 win at gigantic favorites (-317) at Prudential Center as the over (6.5) cashed. Jersey has posted four wins in the past five in this series, while the over has hit in three of the previous four in the series.

The Devils started quickly in that November win, as Jesper Bratt and Ondrej Palat notched even-strength goals in the first period, with Jack Hughes posting a pair of helpers. However, in the second period, the Habs trimmed the lead to 3-2 after 40 minutes. However, it was Hughes pushing the lead back to two goals with an assist to Bratt, while the latter also had an unassisted empty-net goal. Bratt had two goals and three points, while Hughes had a goal and two assists.

Sam Montembeault allowed four goals on 26 shots in that November matchup, while Jacob Markstrom was good for 21 saves on 24 shots for the win. Montembeault is projected to get the start, as he looks to get over .500. He enters with a record of 17-17-3 with a 2.99 GAA and .899 SV% with three shutouts. Markstrom is sidelined due to a lower-body injury, however, and he is expected to miss several weeks. As such, former Habs backstop Jake Allen is expected to face his former team.

Let’s back the Canadiens as big underdogs on the road, as Allen just isn’t nearly as effective as Markstrom. While the over is 3-2-1 in the past six games for the Canadiens, we’ll back the under. The total has gone low in nine of the past 11 games for the Devils. Even with Markstrom on the shelf, don’t expect a drastic change in the approach from Jersey.

As far as a player prop, Lane Hutson is a good play to grab at least one point. The rearguard has a goal and 13 points across the past 10 games, so getting to a single point shouldn’t be a major problem.

Parlay Odds: +687

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders

The Hurricanes (30-16-3) and the Islanders (20-20-7) square off at UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. for the third regular-season meeting between these Metropolitan Division combatants.

Carolina picked up a 4-0 win against the Islanders at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, N.C. on December 17th, as Pyotr Kochetkov turned aside all 32 shots he faced, while Andrei Svechnikov, Jordan Martinook, Tyson Jost and Sebastian Aho backed him up with goals.

One of the players who didn’t factor into the scoring was Martin Necas. The Canes made gigantic headlines Friday as they shipped Necas and Jack Drury, along with some draft picks, to the Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche. The Canes receive forwards Taylor Hall and Mikko Rantanen in the massive deal. It remains to be seen whether or not the new acquisitions will be in the lineup.

The Islanders head into this game with three straight victories, all as a favorite, outscoring the opposition 10-3. Ilya Sorokin has won the past two games, allowing a single goal in each outing. Marcus Hogberg has settled into the backup job, and he has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his four starts with the team. The under is on a 3-0 run for the Isles while going 6-1 in the past seven games and 9-2 in the past 11 outings.

Since the Hurricanes are more than likely to be short a skater or two, we’ll side with the Islanders to get the job done. It won’t be long before Carolina’s offense is even better, but it won’t be Saturday. Based on New York’s recent under run, let’s play that, too.

Sebastian Aho should take on a little more of the offensive responsibilities on Saturday, but we’ll go ultra-conservative. Let’s just go with him to get to two or more shots on goal.

Parlay Odds: +481
