Boston Bruins at New York Rangers

This game features two recent playoff teams that have way underperformed this season.

The Rangers are your reigning Presidents’ Trophy winner, but they have accumulated just eight points in their last 19 games. It's not just one side of the ice that's struggling; it's both, as they're averaging 2.10 goals per game and allowing 3.78 per game. This was a team that relied on their defense and power play unit last season, but they are 23rd in power play percentage this season (18%) compared to third last year (26%).

For the last couple of seasons, the Bruins have relied on an efficient offense, tough defense and a brick wall of a goaltending tandem. The offense went from 3.21 goals per game last year to 2.62. While Jeremy Swayman is starting to get better, he's been inconsistent. Former teammate Linus Ullmark has found success in Ottawa.

We’re starting to see Boston getting better, especially in net, while New York struggles on the ice amid rumors of turmoil. It’s tough to back the Rangers in any spot at this point.

Tampa Bay Lightning at San Jose Sharks

Tampa Bay is putting everyone on notice, especially regarding how this offense performs. They are 8-3-0 in their last 11 and are scoring 4.36 goals per game. Their top line is hard to compete with anyone else. Over their last 10 games, Nikita Kucherov has 15 assists, Brayden Point has 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and Jake Guentzel has nine goals.

The Sharks started the season with two points in their first seven games. They've been even worse with just three points in their last 11 games. Every aspect of this team is horrendous, but we will specifically look at their defense, which is allowing 4.72 goals and 37.2 shots against them per game.

Who did San Jose face at the start of this recent slide? The Lightning - where they gave up eight goals in a loss. With how these two are playing, it’s difficult to not take the Bolts to win big.
