NHL Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (11/26)
Tuesday’s NHL slate is condensed to two games but we’re still going to craft an NHL Same Game Parlay to wager ahead of tonight’s 7:10 p.m. ET puck drops. We’re heading to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to bet on two teams with sub .500 records when the Utah Hockey Club travels to face the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
My NHL SGP bets have been red-hot lately, including last week, when a +163 SGP cashed during Minnesota’s 4-2 road win over St. Louis. The Wild won outright to cash their -166 moneyline odds while finishing with six goals to clear under 8.5 alternate total goals. Pavel Buchnevich recorded a shot on goal early in the first period but it was the only shot on goal the Blues’ LW logged, which allowed us to cash.
I’m here with another NHL SGP to tail for tonight’s action between the Wild and Blues. Make sure to claim and apply FanDuel’s 25% NHL SGP Profit Boost. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more NHL free bets and weekly analysis.
Tuesday's NHL SGP: Utah Hockey Club vs. Montreal Canadiens
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Utah Hockey Club (-137) vs. Montreal Canadiens (+114) | O/U 6.5 (+108/-132)
Montreal Canadiens +2.5 (-430)
Betting on Montreal is not for the faint of heart. The Canadiens have endured losing slumps of four and six consecutive games throughout the early portion of this season. However, in the past five games played, Montreal is 3-2 SU.
Goaltender Sam Montembeault is in the crease for the Canadiens tonight and he’ll look to bounce back after surrendering four goals in less than two periods to Vegas during Montreal’s last game played on Saturday November 23rd, resulting in a 6-2 loss at home. Montembeault previously held three straight opponents to three combined goals, including a 3-0 shutout win over Edmonton, so he’s capable of performing well in the net.
Utah has recorded the sixth-fewest shots on goal in 2024, so I’m willing to buy a goal on Montreal’s alternate puck line. Let’s insert the Canadiens +2.5 in a game where they should stay competitive against Utah’s struggling offense.
Under 8.5 Total Goals (-620)
I love the under 6.5 total goals in this game but we’re going to buy a couple of goals to under 8.5 in case we see a final score of 5-3 or a 3-3 tie in regulation. Utah has scored two or fewer goals in four of their last five games played, while Montreal has finished with two or fewer goals in two of their last five.
The Canadiens have seen their offense heat up lately, scoring seven goals against Buffalo and five goals against Columbus during their recent five-game stretch. Utah’s expected to start an AHL goalie, Jaxson Stauber, who last played with Chicago in 2022, allowing a 2.80 GAA with a .911 save percentage.
Goal scoring should be at a premium in this matchup between two teams with the lowest shot volume accuracy in the league. We could go under 7.5 but a 5-3 final score is keeping me more conservative and buying up one more goal at under 8.5 instead. Over 8.5 has hit twice in Montreal’s last ten games and is 0-10 in Utah’s last ten games played, so this is a good second leg to deploy.
Mike Matheson Under 2.5 Shots on Goal (-196)
We’ve been successful fading players who tend to put up low shot volume. In a game where we’ve got the NHL’s worst team playing in terms of shots on goal, let’s dive into Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson’s shots on goal player prop.
Matheson earns minutes on Montreal’s second defense line and top powerplay unit, averaging over 24 minutes of time on ice per game in 2024. Matheson has recorded a point in three of Montreal’s last five games, however, he’s been a low-volume shooter, recording under 2.5 shots on goal in eight of the Canadiens’ last ten games.
In 20 games this season, Matheson has gone over 2.5 shots on goal three times, facing Seattle, Toronto, and Columbus. He has three shots on goal in two of his past six games played, so this definitely the riskiest leg, which is why we’re getting good value and bumping our NHL SGP into plus odds.
Utah and Montreal both are low volume shooters and Matheson, despite being the Canadiens’ top shot taker on defense, should continue to be a facilitator in the offensive zone, allowing Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Brendan Gallagher to get pucks on the net.
SGP (+114)
