NHL Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (12/17)

The NHL is back with ten games on its Tuesday night slate. We’ll be heading to the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri when two opponents surging across their last ten games face off for the second time this season.

My last +121 NHL SGP between the Devils and Maple Leafs wound up losing when New Jersey squandered a 1-0 lead late in the 3rd period to Toronto. The Devils wound up losing 2-1 in overtime, with Auston Matthews netting the game-winner on the road to extend their winning streak to nine games at the Prudential Center.

Let’s run it back with the New Jersey Devils ahead of their road trip against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more NHL free bets and weekly analysis.

Tuesday's NHL SGP: New Jersey Devils vs. St. Louis Blues

                    (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

                    New Jersey Devils (-192) vs. St. Louis Blues (+158) | O/U  5.5 (-118/-104)

                    Under 6.5 Total Goals (-178)

Jacob Markstrom and Jordan Binnington are both expected to be in the crease for the Devils and Blues in tonight’s matchup. The last time these two teams played, Binnington recorded his only shutout of the 2024-25 season.

Markstrom has been playing very well for the Devils, allowing four total goals across the Devils’ last three games played. New Jersey has seen the goal total go under in five straight games, including five of the last six games played against St. Louis.

Let’s buy a goal at 6.5 and go under 6.5 at -178 odds for the first leg of our NHL Same Game Parlay. Under 6.5 total goals has hit in three of St. Louis’ last five games and six consecutive games for New Jersey.

                    St. Louis Blues +3.5 (-1100)

We’re going to be extra precautious and buy St. Louis up to +3.5 on an alternate puck line against New Jersey. The Blues have beat the Devils in four of their last five head-to-head matchups, including a 3-0 shutout win on the road against the Devils last month.

The Blues haven’t lost by more than three goals since November 9th against Washington. New Jersey has only won by four-plus goals once in their past 13 games played, so let’s insert this highly juiced alternate puck line backing the home underdog Blues on Tuesday night.

Pavel Buchnevich Under 2.5 Shots on Goal (-178)

We’re going to jump back into the total shots on goal betting market and fade Pavel Buchnevich. Buchnevich has been more active in the offensive zone in the past five games, going over 2.5 shots on goal in three of his past five outings. However, the Devils lead the league in shots on goal, so Buchnevich’s opportunities won’t be as abundant as they were in his last outing against the Rangers.

Buchnevich was held to zero shots on goal during the Blues’ 3-0 shutout win a few weeks ago, so despite skating on the first-line attack for St. Louis, let’s bite on under 2.5 shots on goal from Buchnevich on Tuesday night.

                    SGP (+156)

We’ve got a three-leg NHL SGP that comes out to +156 ahead of tonight’s puck drop between the New Jersey Devils and St. Louis Blues. Starting with under 6.5 total goals, we’ll buy one goal in a game with two quality netminders patrolling the crease. The under has been hitting for New Jersey and oddsmakers have set the goal total line to 5.5, so let’s buy up one goal and bet under 6.5 total goals in what projects to be a defensive battle between the Blues and Devils.

Next up, we’re going to play it safe and back St. Louis +3.5 on an alternate puck line. The Blues have won four of the past five matchups against New Jersey outright and haven’t lost by more than three goals in over a month, so this is a quality second leg to insert.

Finally, we’re getting this Same Game Parlay to plus odds by betting St. Louis Blues first-line winger, Pavel Buchnevich, to go under 2.5 shots on goal. He went under this number in their first matchup and he’s fifth on the Blues in total shots on goal (61) this season, allowing Jordan Kyrou and Jake Neighbours to get most of the pucks on net.

Let’s cash this +156 NHL SGP between the St. Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night from the Enterprise Center.
