NHL Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (10/22)

Tuesday’s NHL slate features all 32 NHL teams playing, which means Frozen Frenzy coverage is back! There’s going to be wall-to-wall action all night long on the ice, starting with an Eastern Conference tilt between the 3-1 Washington Capitals on the road against the 1-3 Philadelphia Flyers.

Last week, we cashed our +102 SGP with relative ease thanks to Tampa Bay’s first-line attack producing several scoring plays in a 4-1 rout against Vancouver. Now, we’re looking to go back-to-back with another plus-money SGP during the first puck drop between the Capitals and Flyers at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Tuesday's NHL SGP: Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers

    (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

    Washington Capitals (-102) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (-118) | O/U 5.5 (-130/+106)

    Washington Capitals Moneyline (-102)

Washington has won three straight games outright after dropping their first matchup to New Jersey, 5-3. Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren is getting the start in the crease tonight against the Flyers, after bouncing back with a strong 22 save outing in a 3-2 win over Dallas last week.

Lindgren held Philadelphia to one goal in a 2-1 road win late in the regular season last year, and now, we’re getting Washington as a slight underdog despite playing better than the Flyers on both ends of the ice to start the 2024-25 season. Let’s grab the value on Washington, who has won three in a row, versus Philadelphia, who have lost four straight after orchestrating a late comeback on the road to beat Vancouver 3-2 in overtime during the season-opener.

    Under 7.5 Total Goals (-430)

Oddsmakers have set the goal total line to 5.5, which indicates they believe goals will be at a premium in this game. Lindgren and Flyers starting goaltender, Samuel Ersson, each have one win as a starter in 2024, although Ersson is now 0-2 in his last two starts, surrendering four goals to the Oilers and three goals to the Canucks in a 3-0 shutout loss this past Saturday.

We’re buying two goals and taking under 7.5 total goals to get our SGP to plus odds. Washington has been good offensively, scoring three or more goals in all four games this season, fresh off of a 6-5 overtime road win at New Jersey. We may see the Capitals win this matchup 4-3 or 5-2, so this is a good way to grab plus odds on the board without worrying about a late empty-netter or a 3-3 tied game heading into overtime.

    SGP (+139)

Four of the past five head-to-head matchups between the Capitals and Flyers have gone under 7.5 total goals, including four consecutive outings. The Capitals are playing much better than the Flyers right now, ranked third in goals per game (4.0) versus Philadelphia, who is allowing 4.2 goals per game, fourth-highest in the league.

Lindgren is better than Ersson in the net and based on the Capitals’ offensive firepower, compared to the Flyers offense, which just got blanked on home ice by Vancouver, we’re landing good value at +139 odds by parlaying Washington’s moneyline odds with under 7.5 total goals during the first of 16 NHL games played on Tuesday night.
