NHL Same Game Parlay: Tuesday (10/8)

The 2024-25 NHL regular season kicks off its North American schedule on Tuesday with a three-game slate for sports bettors and NHL fans to enjoy. After New Jersey won both games against Buffalo in Prague to start the new season 2-0 overseas, we’ll begin Tuesday’s slate with a matchup between St. Louis and Seattle, followed by Boston vs. Florida, and wrap up with a late-night puck drop between Chicago and Utah.

In this article, I’ll provide an NHL SGP to tail on Tuesday’s slate, targeting the first game between the St. Louis Blues and Seattle Kraken. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more NHL free bets and weekly analysis.

Tuesday's NHL SGP: St. Louis Blues vs. Seattle Kraken

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

St. Louis Blues (+130) vs. Seattle Kraken (-156) | O/U 5.5 (-130/+106)

Seattle Kraken +1.5 (-430)

Seattle hosts St. Louis at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday, with oddsmakers laying -156 odds on the Kraken as home favorites on the moneyline. Seattle has covered +1.5 in four of its last five matchups against St. Louis, although they did lose 4-1 on the road against the Blues during their most recent matchup in April 2024.

The Kraken have more depth and a better roster than the Blues, but for insurance, we’re going to take Seattle +1.5. The Blues won all three head-to-head matchups outright last year, including two by a one-goal margin, but Kraken veteran goaltender Philipp Grubauer should be able to play tight enough in the net to keep this game within striking distance for Seattle.

Under 8.5 Total Goals (-720)

We’re going up and buying under 8.5 total goals for the second leg of our SGP between St. Louis and Seattle. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington is stout in the crease and allowed four total goals in two starts against the Kraken last season. Grubauer is a bit volatile but has experience and is healthy right now, which should help him play better in the net against a top-heavy Blues offense.

There haven’t been nine total goals scored in any of the past five matchups between these opponents, while at 5.5 total goals, oddsmakers are indicating this matchup may be a lower-scoring affair. This is another juiced line for insurance, making it a strong second leg to this SGP.

Jordan Eberle 2+ Shots On Goal (-215)

Finally, we’re hitting player props and targeting Seattle’s Jordan Eberle on their first-line attack. Eberle recorded two shots on goal during two of three matchups against St. Louis in 2023-24 and he’ll have plenty of chances to replicate this feat on the first-line and top powerplay unit for Seattle.

SGP (+111)

Our SGP is +111 with two lines that are heavily juiced due to their high probability, while getting to plus odds with a third-leg player prop. First, we’re backing Seattle at +1.5 despite being a -156 favorite on the moneyline at home against St. Louis.

Then, we’re taking under 8.5 total goals, as these teams have not combined for nine goals in five consecutive head-to-head matchups, while both goaltenders have enough talent in the crease to keep this number well short of 8.5 on the final scoreboard. Kraken RW Jordan Eberle is our final leg, betting 2+ shots on goal at -215 odds, which he’s hit in two of the past three games against St. Louis.
