Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars

It took some time for the physicality of the Panthers to come through, but in Game 3, they were forechecking and disrupting the Oilers' puck movement. One example was a big check to Connor McDavid that led to a turnover and a one-on-one opportunity for Sam Bennett that he converted into a goal. That hit would force McDavid to leave the game for a while.

This was the second game in which the Oilers did not play smart, resulting in multiple penalties, and the Panthers were able to convert three power-play goals. Those frustrations ultimately boiled over, leading to a brawl in the third period that resulted in 122 penalty minutes and five ejections. Those fights were the most life we saw from Edmonton in that game.

The Oilers have one of the fastest offenses in the league with some of the best talent. They need to use that to move the puck and have the Panthers’ defense play catch-up rather than setting the tone. They have the depth to make frequent line changes to feature their above-average talent with fresh legs, so don't be surprised if Kris Knoblauch plays around with the line combinations and shift times.

The Panthers seem to have settled into playing their style of hockey, and for the better part of the last two games, the Oilers have had trouble counteracting it. Florida did allow 33 shots on goal in Game 3, but just four high-danger shots. As long as they don't allow Edmonton to get quality opportunities, Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky should be able to keep a high-powered offense like Edmonton contained.
