ACC Tournament Picks & Predictions: Notre Dame vs. North Carolina
Notre Dame vs. North Carolina
Notre Dame narrowly escaped the first round of the Tournament, holding on to beat Pitt by a point 55-54. After finishing the regular season on a 6-1 run, North Carolina earned a bye in the first round. But they finished the year on a down note, losing to Duke 82-69.
North Carolina and Notre Dame played on Jan. 4 during the regular season in South Bend. The Tar Heels got out to a 39-32 lead at the half, but Notre Dame pulled ahead about midway through the second half. However, they couldn't hold the lead down the stretch, losing by a point after Elliot Cadeua was fouled, hitting a three-pointer with four seconds left.
Our Pick: UNDER 145.5
I'm tempted to go with the Notre Dame ML since the regular season meeting went down to the wire the way it did. Taking the Fighting Irish to win outright looks like it could be an incredible value play. But North Carolina is playing good basketball right now, while Notre Dame is squeaking past lackluster teams.
However, with the regular season in mind, 10.5 points feels a little high to take the Tar Heels (but we can't trust the Fighting Irish, either). That leaves the total.
