Monday's Best NHL Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dallas Stars (+110) at Edmonton Oilers (-130) | O/U 5.5 (-115/-105)
The Oilers were one of the best offenses in the regular season and have continued into the playoffs, so even against a good defense like the Stars, you would believe they could play well. That has not been the case, as they have only scored three goals. Their puck possession has been keeping them in contention, and their 42.6% game time in their offensive zone in the playoffs is great, and it's been keeping their opponent's shots on goal low. We're also seeing Stuart Skinner stepping up, with a .930 save percentage in this series.
On the other side, Jake Oettinger has also been fantastic, with a .940 save percentage. The defense overall was impressive in Game 2, and they contained the Oilers to under 29 shots, 22 blocks, and 11 takeaways. The offense made a push in the third period and grabbed a go-ahead goal, but they still haven't played well offensively and have just 48.04% expected goal share in this series.
Edmonton will be rocking as it’s been a couple of years since they’ve been in the conference finals. It’s also been 18 years since they’ve won a conference final game at home. They have been able to get goals early on their home ice, and if they can tonight, they can continue to dominate that puck possession and get a win.
Pick: Oilers Moneyline (-130)
