NFL Week 17 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Panthers vs. Buccaneers

Tampa is holding onto the NFC South lead by a thread. A win by Carolina would catapult them into the drivers’ seat headed into Week 18. This should come as no surprise to anyone that has been paying attention to the Panthers.

Since Week 7 when they took care of the Bucs in Charlotte 21-3, they’ve ranked 18th in the league in total DVOA. Though this doesn’t seem all that impressive, it’s been good enough to second best in the NFC South and five spots ahead of Tampa.

After making the change to Sam Darnold in Week 12, Carolina has the top rated pass offense per DVOA. A rush offense that ran wild against Detroit could find success to a Tampa defense that has been around league average.

On top of all of this, Tampa is 3-11-1 ATS on the season with five straight ATS losses and the games haven’t even been that close. Brady always has the ability to pull out an improbable late win as he has often this season, but we don’t need Carolina to win, just to cover.
